About the job

Since one of our employees has chosen to take well-deserved early retirement, and we have expanded the offering with four places, we are seeking four new colleagues for the 24/7 offering at AutismeCenter Skive. The positions are intended to be filled from December 1, 2026.

About the workplace

AutismeCenter Skive is the Skive Municipality’s center for interventions for adults with autism and includes, among other things, supported living, residential accommodation and employment and activity opportunities for people with autism.

The positions are located at Bilstrupvej 27 A-E, which is a 24/7 residential care facility under SEL §85/ABL §105. The facility consists of five houses, with space for a total of 39 residents.

The target group is people with autism spectrum disorders, and there can be physical and mental comorbid conditions, just as there is to a varying degree a lower developmental age than biological age.

The staff group is interdisciplinary and includes, among others, social educators, SSA, occupational therapists, a music therapist, and we need to expand with two educators and two occupational therapists.

The workplace is characterized by an informal tone, where we get along well.

The Bilstrupvej facility is relatively new and is a merger of several offerings. We are well underway with building common cultures and workflows to create a strong shared ID.

At the same time, extensive competence development has been initiated, and we are therefore in the process of implementing several professional tools and methods, in which you will be an active participant.

We are professionally focused, and you can expect ongoing professional development in the coming years, just as you, together with your team, will receive external professional supervision

About the expectations

The core task for the Social Department in Skive Municipality is

”In interaction with the citizen, we create opportunities for development, well-being and mastery of one’s own life”

You are therefore expected, together with your colleagues, to collaborate with citizens, relatives, social workers and other relevant parties to create a life in well-being and with focus on mastery and development for each citizen. We focus on the citizens’ hopes and dreams, and we want to work recovery-oriented to ensure that support and interventions are arranged meaningfully with a focus on well-being and development with the citizen’s voice at the center.

As department head I expect everyone to approach work with a focus on professionalism, life mastery, self-determination, collaboration and reflection, just as I expect that we all are inclusive of the mistakes we make along the way. I consider mistakes a healthy part of a learning process, which is why we should use every opportunity to reflect on and learn from the mistakes we make - I consider a mistake only a mistake if we do not learn from it.

This requires a focus on psychological safety in the workplace, which we must always strive to retain and develop in fellowship. Psychological safety is a shared responsibility between management, employees and union representatives, and you must therefore be prepared to actively contribute to maintaining and further developing psychological safety.

I expect everyone to carry the load at the workplace - it is a shared responsibility that we reach our goals - both in relation to the direct work with the core task, but also to the collegial collaboration and the collaboration with relatives and partners.

I therefore set requirements for both the desire and ability to collaborate and take responsibility, and although I understand that individuals in periods have more capacity than at other times, I expect that you do not ‘check out’ and thus leave the ship entirely to others to steer.

I work from values such as collaboration, integrity, development and equality - values you can expect to encounter in my collaboration.

About the positions and mono-disciplinary expectations

In daily life, the majority of the work consists of supporting the citizens in the offering. Support that ensures well-being and development. Work is based on the citizens’ §141 action plan with goals, sub-goals and actions to ensure that we reach the results set. We also focus on giving you the opportunity to use and develop your mono-disciplinary competencies in daily work.

Work is based on SMART goals, and there is continuous work to increase citizen involvement in the goal formulation so we ensure that the citizen’s voice is heard and forms the basis for our work.

There is a large difference in the support needs of the citizens, which naturally means that there is variation in what tasks your day will consist of. The scope of support ranges broadly, and you should expect anything from personal care to cognitive development conversations.

The majority of citizens are in activity or employment-oriented programs on weekdays, but need support with routine daily tasks when they come home. At the same time there may be support for participation in activities in and outside the house, assistance with personal care, training of skills, exercise as well as social contact and companionship.

In addition to the usual daily support for citizens, there are various mono-disciplinary expectations:

Educators

All educators are expected to be able to design the educational efforts around the citizens including the development of support systems, work to reduce challenging and self-harmful behavior through increased well-being.

It is a great advantage for applicants to have knowledge of methods such as KRAP, La2/La2u, ASK, Neuropedagogy, TEACCH and similar methods

Occupational Therapists

The mono-disciplinary expectations for occupational therapists relate especially to working with motor and sensory difficulties among citizens with autism/cognitive disabilities. The occupational therapists are expected to contribute to approaches with particular focus on adaptation of stimuli and skill training from an occupational therapy perspective.

There is a positive view of education in AMPS, transfer (forflytning) and sensory profiling or similar education and competencies to use these.

About the working hours

The working hours vary between day, evening and weekend work. Since most of the citizens are in activity programs on weekdays, there are more evening shifts.

Shifts can start at 6 the earliest and end at 23 the latest.

Shifts are up to 12 hours, but vary a lot.

We work from work plans that are comparable, which means we try to distribute shifts evenly among colleagues. There may be differences from house to house in meeting times according to the needs of the individual house.

You can expect on average 1 day shift and 3 evening shifts per week, as well as every 3rd weekend.

About you

No one can do everything, but we hope you can say yes to several of the following points

  • You are resilient and grounded in your professional competence
  • You have experience with citizens with autism and cognitive disabilities
  • You have knowledge of comorbid conditions such as anxiety, OCD, attachment disorders
  • You have knowledge of physical and verbal escalating behavior
  • You have knowledge of and understanding that self-harm is a coping strategy
  • You are good at structuring, motivating and challenging in a safe framework
  • You have mono-disciplinary competencies and can apply them in practice
  • You are inclusive, participatory and respectful in your meetings with citizens
  • You would like to convey and share your professional knowledge
  • You thrive with a high degree of team collaboration and contribute to your colleagues having a good workday
  • You are driven by actively influencing and developing our workplace
  • You have a valid driver's license and are willing to drive our bus
  • You have an appreciative approach to citizens and your colleagues, and you possess a professional focus that you can translate into practice

Regardless of your mono-disciplinarity, it will be a significant advantage if you have experience with citizens with autism at both theoretical and practical levels, just as we view education, experience, competencies and the use of relevant professional methods positively, e.g.: KRAP, autism pilot, neuropedagogy, ASK, TEACCH La2u, Open Dialogue, conflict management, sensory profiling and/or knowledge of psychiatric challenges, Down syndrome and attachment disorders.
