A hands-on and experienced leader for the Day School in Slimminge

Our leader retires at the turn of the year and leaves behind a well-run and well-regarded treatment and special education offering that helps some of Køge Municipality's most vulnerable children and young people well on the path to life. Therefore we are seeking a new, relationship-strong and engaged leader who thrives in the combination of further developing effective treatment and special education with a focus on professional expertise and social skills.

About Heldagsskolen in Sliminge

Heldagsskolen in Sliminge is Køge Municipality's treatment and special education offering, which consists of three departments (lower primary, middle, and upper secondary). We teach in and offer examination opportunities in all primary school subjects.

We are a total of 35 full-time equivalents distributed among teachers, pedagogues, family therapists, school secretary and department heads.

We receive 45 children and young people from kindergarten to 9th grade, who are particularly characterized by:

• Complex social, emotional and learning difficulties, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, trauma, family challenges and attachment disorders
• Challenges with attention, perception and cognitive functions, low self-esteem and experiences of defeat in the school context, high school absence, and difficulties with emotional regulation and social understanding
• Treatment needs for a holistic and coordinated effort that supports development and emotional regulation, social skills, resilience and mental well-being
• Learning and teaching needs for a high degree of structure, recognizability and predictability, clear classroom management and visual support, a strong relational pedagogical approach and focus on well-being, plus individual adaptation based on the pupil's cognitive, social and emotional prerequisites

Our approaches are based on an appreciative and relationship-based perspective and are organized in close collaboration with the child/young person, the family and relevant professionals. We work from systemic narrative and neuroaffective developmental psychology and with a clear expectation for parents to participate in family treatment.

The learning part is organized in small groups with close adult support and integration of social-pedagogical interventions in teaching. In the treatment part there are also family therapeutic treatment courses by internal family therapists. All staff receive ongoing supervision.

Your closest collaborators

As the leader of Sliminge you report to the family chief and join the Family Department's leadership group, which constitutes a safe shared space for managerial development and sparring across the Family Department's six units: Heldagsskolen in Sliminge, Family Center Køge (authority), Family Houses Elmehuset and Egehuset, Health Visiting, Dental Service and SSP.

Your closest collaborators will be the five area managers from Family Center Køge – both at an overarching strategic level and at case level. You will also have close collaboration on bridging with daycare and school sector, Youth Guidance and upper-secondary education, just as Health Visiting, PPR and SSP will be important partners.

You will have access to organizational support from the Financial Department, HR and Law, IT, consultants in Daycare and School Department, as well as the Family Department's two consultants.

Who are you?

You have strong professional and leadership competencies and good energy to contribute to fulfilling Køge Municipality's ambitions to ensure children and youths with a need for treatment and special education have the best conditions to achieve the same opportunities for care, learning, personal development, well-being, health and an independent adult life as their peers.

We envisage that you

• Have an education in the teaching or family-treatment field, preferably a teacher education with a higher specialisation
• Have a relevant leadership education and solid leadership experience and are comfortable with leading down, sideways and up, where you rest in your leadership style and values and visions for the overall offering
• Have experience within the treatment and special education field – ideally specifically in relation to Sliminge's target group
• Can continue Sliminge's culture and professional direction with a constant curiosity to keep up with and be able to translate the latest knowledge on developmental psychology, treatment, didactics, learning and pupil well-being
• Have a trust-based, inclusive and clear leadership style with transparency in your communication and decisions and a security in balancing delegating responsibility and being clear and decisive
• Have experience navigating a politically governed organization with simultaneous focus on the core task and a balanced economy, where you can translate municipal strategies into local practice and create followership
• Are concerned with the political agenda of a general area that can do more for more, and how a treatment and special education offering like Sliminge can play a positive role in that.

Employment terms

The position is 37 hours per week with start on 1 January 2027.

Salary and employment terms are according to the applicable collective agreement.
