A vigilant night shift worker is sought for Fårupgård Youth Center, Horizon Department

Are you passionate about creating safety and stability in the late hours for young people in vulnerable life situations? Then you may be the nighttime guard we are looking for at Horisonten – The position is a permanent 37-hour job with a fixed work rota in a 5:2 shift pattern.

About the job

Horisonten is located in a large villa in Vejle close to the center. Up to 7 youths of different ages can live in the department. The target group at Horisonten is youths aged 12-18 (23) years, where it is assessed that returning home can be a realistic option, or that they will subsequently benefit from living somewhere other than home, e.g. foster family, after-school care, own apartment, stepped care or another institutional offer.

The department also serves as a stepping-down unit for Fårupgård’s other departments. The youths at Horisonten typically have difficulties in relation to their family, school, local environment, or individual problems related to behavior, attachment, trauma and development.

At Horisonten, the youths’ everyday life is planned with a focus on creating structure, predictability and room for each individual. The adults are present and work closely in relation to the youths. The pedagogical practice is based on a mentalization-based approach, where the youths are met with an understanding that their behavior and challenges stem from underlying burdens and traumas.

The night shift’s primary task is to create safety and calm through the night as well as to provide care and support to the youths when needs arise. In close collaboration with the other pedagogical staff, the night shift also has the responsibility of waking and assisting the department’s children and youths in the transition to school and potential employment.

About us

Fårupgård Youth Center is a children and youth home for youths aged 12-23 with various behavioral, social and psychiatric difficulties. Our physical premises are an old manor house located in scenic surroundings by Fårup Lake, in Jelling. In addition, there is a department in Vejle and in Brejning. Fårupgård consists of a total of 5 24-hour departments tailored to different target groups and an internal school.

We expect you to

• Be passionate about working with youths with psychiatric and pervasive developmental and behavioral disorders.
• Be responsible, loyal, stand firm and be persistent in your pedagogical work.
• Be able to express yourself in writing and orally and consider documentation and knowledge sharing an important part of the job.
• Be able to maintain an overview, handle unpredictable behavior/situations and conflicts, with a focus on your own and your youth’s safety.
• Be able to work alone and make independent decisions.
• Be caring and able to care for youths who may have difficulty finding calm at night.
• Be willing to collaborate and develop yourself in a community with your colleagues.
• Have a driver’s license.

Your duties will include among other things

• Creating safety and structure around the youths.
• Working loyally based on our values and other guidelines.
• Actively participating in overlaps and departmental meetings and passing on relevant information
• Documenting and communicating in the diary program.
• Practical tasks such as cleaning and other ad hoc duties are part of the job tasks.

Employment conditions

37 hours

Interviews are expected to be conducted. 23 October 2026

Start of employment

1 December 2026 and preferably earlier

Salary

According to current collective agreement.
