Activities and Socializing Assistant at Granhøjens Skæve Boliger

In Nykøbing Sjælland our new community house is located.

It is the gathering point for residents in Granhøjens Skæve Boliger and will become your primary base as an activities and social interaction staff member.

Here, social life can arise over a cup of coffee or around a shared meal. It could also be a bike that needs repairing, or something practical that needs to be arranged together.

At other times there is a need for you to take the initiative and start an activity together with the residents.

Your role is about creating life in the community house and opportunities for residents to participate in the community on their own terms.

The residents live separately – the community house provides the opportunity to meet

At Granhøjens Skæve Boliger the residents live in their own houses and apartments around Odsherred.

Most manage quite well on their own. Therefore, our work rarely involves doing things for them. It is about supporting them to succeed on their own.

For many of our residents it is difficult to live close to other people. Therefore they live in autonomous housing where the support is based on each resident’s situation and goals.

The community house also provides an opportunity to be part of a community.

Here residents can meet for a meal or an activity. They can also take part in the practical things that everyday life includes.

The community house is also a professional base for the staff. Here we collaborate on the support that each resident needs.

Your everyday life as an activities and social interaction staff member

You will have a special responsibility for everyday life in the community house.

That means you must plan and carry out activities together with the residents and your colleagues. The activities should be grounded in what the residents themselves are interested in and would like to be part of.

It could be cooking and shared meals. It could also be bike repairs or minor maintenance tasks.

You must be able to turn an idea into something concrete while also having an eye for how the residents themselves can contribute.

Not all residents will necessarily come on their own. Some need support or motivation to participate. Therefore you must also work proactively and find out what can make participation possible for the individual.

The goal is not that everyone should participate in the same way.

You should help create opportunities where each individual can contribute according to their own prerequisites.

You will also hold house meetings and involve residents in developing what happens in the community house.

As part of your work you document relevant actions and agreements in our professional systems. The observations you make about residents’ well-being and participation you bring into the professional collaboration with your colleagues.

You will become part of a team where we help each other

Even though you have special responsibility for everyday life in the community house, you do not solve the task alone.

You collaborate with the other staff on the activities and on the support the individual resident needs.

You also contribute with what you see and experience in the community house so it can be brought into the joint professional work around the residents.

Is this you we are looking for?

Your professional background can vary.

You may have a pedagogical or social work background. A health care or trades/background can also be relevant.

The important thing is that you can build relationships with people with different prerequisites and support them to participate without taking over.

You can translate ideas into something that can actually be implemented in everyday life. And you can take the initiative when there is a need for someone to get something started.

If you have experience with people in social-psychiatric offers or a similar target group, that is an advantage.

You must be able to work from a recovery-oriented and rehabilitative approach. This means, among other things, that you start from each resident’s resources and desires and support possibilities for the greatest possible independence.

You must also be able to document your work in relevant professional systems and be familiar with IT at user level.

And you have a driver’s license (B).

The position is 37 hours per week with rotating day and evening shifts. There are also weekend shifts according to a fixed schedule.
