Assistant Professor/Lecturer for the Building Constructor education in Aarhus

VIA Building seeks a dedicated and professionally strong associate professor/lecturer to become part of our team in Aarhus. We offer an exciting and varied position where, based on your experience and competencies, you will contribute to developing the teaching.

Your main tasks will be

• Teaching based on your professional field from the overarching topics on the program's 3rd – 7th semesters
• Industry and prefabrication
• Innovation and Entrepreneurship
• Multistory construction
• Renovation
• Problem-based research design (philosophy of science)
• Organization and understanding of business
• Communication and collaboration
• Production
• Design/engineering (all phases)
• Bachelor guidance
• Practical training guidance
• Examination, assessment and feedback, as well as academic supervision of students
• Teaching and professional development
• Depending on competence, contribute to research/development and/or further education.

Your competencies

We expect to find a candidate who fulfills one or more of the following competency areas

• That you have a relevant construction-related education, preferably Building Constructor, Building Engineer or Architect. A Master's, Candidate or PhD will be preferred, as well as documented associate professor/lecturer experience from the Danish university colleges' and professional bachelor's college's job structure will be preferred
• That you are professionally engaged
• That you have experience with teaching and guiding students - both young and adult
• That you can actively contribute to the development of the Building Constructor education and collaboration with external partners and clients
• That you are a strong communicator, oral and written
• That you have strong digital subject competencies from teaching and previous work, e.g.: BIM, VDC, LCA, LCC, LPP, LBS and similar technologies. It doesn’t matter if you know more than prompting on the AI front
• That you have strong universal design competencies
• That you have strong social competencies
• That you can operate professionally in Danish and English

You must be prepared to

• Qualify for associate professorship through a mandatory associate professorship pathway if you are not already an associate professor
• Engage in collaboration with the other instructors of the Building Constructor education
• Participate in research and development projects within construction
• Participate in the development and provision of continuing education related to your particularly strong competence areas
• Participate in the collaboration around internships and with professionals' continuing educators
• Have primary affiliation with VIA Building's provision of the Building Constructor education in Aarhus, but also, if needed, undertake tasks at VIA's other locations
• Recognize that the workload is complex, but that we will find a path together through dialogue and joint priorities

With an annual intake in Aarhus of about 240 students, you will become a central co-actor in VIA’s provision of the Building Constructor education, which, in addition to the Aarhus address, also takes place in Holstebro, Horsens and Randers. The teaching on the Building Constructor program in Aarhus is structured with the student at the center. Planning is team-based and supplemented with strong learning communities, and presupposes collaboration in and outside the students' project rooms. The Aarhus provision is characterized by very active students and strong collegial collaborations.

Employment terms

Depending on your educational background, the appointment will be in accordance with either the applicable collective agreement for academics in the state or the joint agreement for LC/CO10 and the organizational agreement for teachers at university colleges and professional bachelor's colleges.

The appointment is covered by Royal Decree no. 414 of 27 April 2025 on the job structure for teachers at higher education institutions at university colleges, professional bachelor's colleges, the Danish School of Media and Journalism and maritime educational institutions, as well as Royal Decree no. 413 of 27 April 2025 on lecturer qualification, lecturer evaluation and docent evaluation.

We expect to appoint a full-time lecturer (37 hours per week) from 1 December, possibly 2 November 2026.

Your primary workplace is Campus Aarhus C, Ceresbyen 24, 8000 Aarhus C, but you should expect that activities may take place across the Central Denmark Region.
