About the job

Head of Department for EIA and Landscape in the country’s second-largest municipality

Do you want to lead some of the most central planning and environmental professional tasks in Aarhus Municipality and set the direction for the future city and landscape development?

Aarhus is in rapid development. Large infrastructure projects, ambitious climate goals and continued growth in both the city and the countryside place high demands on planning and authority handling. Therefore we are looking for a head of department who can unite strong professional disciplines, create direction and ensure high quality in the work with environmental assessments and landscape planning.

You will have the opportunity to lead two competent teams, each day contributing to shaping the future Aarhus through professionalism, collaboration and social responsibility.

About the department

The Department for EIA and Landscape consists of 14 engaged employees spread across two strong professional environments. What unites the staff is a high professional level, a high degree of independence and a strong commitment to creating good solutions for citizens, businesses and the municipality.

The EIA team works with authority processing under the Environmental Impact Assessment Act, environmental impact assessments, decisions, political recommendations and dialogue with developers, citizens and authorities.

The Landscape team works with blue-green connections, recreational structures, climate adaptation and landscape quality in plans and projects.

Your tasks as head of department

As head of department you will play a central role in creating direction, coherence and results. You must translate strategic goals into concrete action and ensure that the employees have the best prerequisites to succeed.

  • Set a clear direction for the department’s professional development
  • Ensure prioritization, progress and quality in complex projects
  • Support employees’ well-being, development and engagement
  • Strengthen collaboration across the organization and with external partners
  • Actively contribute to the development of Plan as a unified leadership team

You will become part of a leadership team in Plan consisting of the head of planning and four department heads. In Plan there are about 70 employees spread over four departments: Local Planning I, Local Planning II, Process and Law, and EIA and Landscape.

Who are you?

You are an approachable and clear leader with strong collaboration skills. You create followers, hold fast to professionalism and are motivated by developing both people and the organization.

We offer

  • Opportunity to influence the development of Denmark’s second-largest municipality
  • Leadership responsibility for two strong professional environments
  • An ambitious leadership community
  • Good opportunities for professional and personal development
  • A workplace focused on well-being and job satisfaction
