About the job

Can you take the lead in the work to create more participation opportunities for children in local communities? All children and young people, regardless of age and needs, should have the opportunity for a good life, where they develop competencies that enable them to participate actively in communities and society. The task of adults is to create frameworks that give all children the opportunity to participate and succeed. If this matches your values, perhaps you are the one we are missing in our leadership team?

Who are we?

Firkløverskolen is a public school with about 700 students spread across a general provision and a special provision located in four departments:

  • Givskud and Ikær, where students attend grades 0-6 with an associated SFO
  • Søndermarken, where we group students in grades 7-9
  • The Special Department, which is located at Elkjær and Søndermarken

At Firkløverskolen we create a good framework for the children's whole day. We believe that all children and young people can learn, and that they develop together with others. We start from the premise that children fundamentally do the best they can, and that they participate in learning communities when the frameworks support it. We focus on the children's potential and resources and are concerned with diverse and strong communities, where difference is seen as a strength.

Firkløverskolen is an exciting school, where you are attached to the Givskud department. The department is a small unit with a large heart, which at the same time is closely linked to the school's other departments through strong cross-cutting collaboration. In the department we are about 10 staff members, and we educate about 80 children from 0-6 grade.

Staff management, pedagogical leadership and operational responsibility

Your leadership task is diverse and will consist of both staff leadership, pedagogical leadership and daily operations. This takes its starting point in that we are a development school and work according to Vejle Municipality's strategy of "more children and young people in local communities." This is expressed among other things through three development pathways:

  • Strengthening the transition to school start through the use of transition pedagogues
  • Co-teaching, where we develop the instruction so more children experience participation, mastery and learning during the school day.
  • Physical arrangement of good learning environments.

To support the work with co-teaching, this school year we have a learning program with Nordic Learning for all staff. All with the ambition to create learning environments where all children feel they belong and contribute.

You will play a central role in this work, where your task will be to motivate and support the staff at the Givskud department in translating the ambitions into practice. Here you should be able to go in front, behind and beside the staff, spar with them about teaching and pedagogical practice, and have close contact with students and parents.

What are we looking for?

We emphasize that our upcoming department head is a visible and approachable leader who works from an affirmative view of children. This means, among other things, that your door is open to both children, parents and staff, and that you prioritize being present in daily life. You have respect for that children and families can have different circumstances and needs, and that they should therefore meet differently.

You are motivated by developing teaching and learning environments. You work in a dialogical manner, are empathetic and inclusive and see opportunities in co-creating solutions with local stakeholders. You understand the different work tasks and conditions of staff and can create followers around common goals.

You have an eye for the cultures and working procedures of the different subject areas and lead the work to create frameworks where students experience mastery, well-being and where positions in the learning community rotate.

As a leader you thrive on succeeding through others and have fundamental trust in your staff and fellow humans.

We can offer

  • professionally grounded staff,
  • a active shared board,
  • a large leadership team where you become part of a community around the leadership task,
  • professional sparring,
  • good physical frameworks,
  • an active local area.

As department head you will be part of a large leadership team which besides you consists of a school principal, a deputy principal, two department heads, a SFO leader, a leader of pedagogy and learning and a technical service manager.

You will experience good opportunities for sparring in the task solution and become part of a strong leadership community, even though your daily life is on the campus in Givskud. As department head you will have responsibility for daily operations, pedagogical leadership close to the staff and cross-organizational tasks and/or AKT function in Givskud.

We want a department head who

  • is a trained teacher and has experience from the school world, preferably with leadership experience or other relevant further education,
  • thrives with a diverse task solution and can balance between development and operation,
  • thrives working in a cross-field with many interests,
  • can be persistent and provide qualified professional sparring,
  • can manage collaboration and networking meetings in 0-6 grade with a resource-oriented view of both children and parents,
  • understands the importance of celebrating the organization's successes, both small and large,
  • has strong relational competencies, is dialogue-creating and keeps an overview with a view to both detail, the individual and the community,
  • can set a clear professional direction and at the same time protect a good working environment.
