About the job

Do you want to lead a department where professionalism, clear leadership and strong collaboration are essential to daily life?

Then you may be the person we are seeking as Department Manager at Fredskovvej.

A leadership role with responsibility and the opportunity to make a difference

As Department Manager you will be responsible for the daily management of a department at Fredskovvej and for about 25 employees. You will become part of an established residential facility with high professionalism and dedicated employees and will play a central role in the continued development of the department.

You must create clear direction, ensure good conditions for employees’ task execution and support a culture where professionalism, wellbeing and collaboration go hand in hand. You will also be an important part of the leadership team and will receive close sparring from both the residential facility manager, colleagues and relevant consultants in the Social Administration.

'Fredskovvej should be a place where there is room for differences, and where everyone experiences ownership of the workplace and the core task. Therefore I place high value on involvement and recognition in my leadership ', Bo Pihl, residential facility manager at Fredskovvej.

You create direction, followership and good framework

We are seeking a leader who is clear and present, and who can translate goals and professional ambitions into a well-functioning everyday life. You rest secure in your leadership role, listen and are curious about different perspectives – while at the same time you can make decisions and stand firm when the situation requires it.

You have an eye for both the individual employee and the overall task. You create an overview, prioritize and follow up, and you work systematically to ensure that employees have the right prerequisites to succeed.

As Department Manager you will, among other things

  • set a clear direction and establish clear goals and frameworks for daily task execution
  • ensure professional quality, safety and wellbeing in the department
  • provide employees with clear professional sparring, feedback and clear expectations for task execution
  • plan and prioritize resources and tasks with a view to the best solution
  • create followership and support strong collaboration across professions
  • contribute to recruitment, introduction and development of employees
  • work with both daily operations and the long-term development of the offering.

A strong leadership community

You will become part of a small leadership team consisting of the residential facility manager and another Department Manager. In addition, each department has a professional coordinator, a social-professional coordinator and a health-professional coordinator who support the Department Manager. We also have an administrative employee who works across the entire facility. We prioritize sparring, joint development and close collaboration on the overall task.

As Department Manager you will also become part of the Social Administration in the Municipality of Copenhagen and will have access to professional sparring and collaboration with consultants in areas such as social and health care, work environment and HR. There is also potential for relevant leadership education, including a diploma in leadership.

Fredskovvej and the citizens

Fredskovvej is located in the scenic Dianalund on the island of Zealand West. The residential facility has undergone a major renovation and has large, good outdoor areas. We place great emphasis on outdoor activities, and the outdoor areas include among other things a sensory garden, a greenhouse, a fire pit with a pizza oven and percussion instruments.

Fredskovvej is a residential facility for adults with autism or autism-like challenges and low cognitive function levels combined with various lasting mental health impairments. All citizens have a massive support need, and staff coverage is planned according to each citizen’s needs.

The work is based on the principle that citizens – like everyone else – must be seen, heard and understood. This requires high professionalism and the ability to read and respond to each citizen’s signals. Some citizens may have outwardly acting or self-harmful behavior, and the work therefore also involves high emotional demands. As a leader you must be able to help prevent and manage how these demands affect the employees’ work environment. Safety, relational work, cooperation and professional reflection are therefore central elements of daily life.

We imagine that you

  • have a social or health care education – for example as a pedagogist or social- and health care assistant
  • have relevant leadership experience. If you do not have a leadership education, it is expected that you undertake a diploma in leadership
  • can create clarity and direction without losing presence and employee involvement
  • have an eye for both operations, professional quality, working environment and employee wellbeing
  • are structured, collaborative and good at prioritizing
  • can stay calm and be decisive in complex situations.

Salary and employment terms

This is a permanent position of 37 hours per week. Expected start date is 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible. Employment is according to the applicable collective agreement for managers. We will obtain references and a criminal record before employment.
