About the job

Activities assistant sought for a one-year temporary position at Plejecenter Kærdalen

Are you keen to create meaningful activities, communities and good experiences together with older residents? And are you passionate about making a difference through activity, presence and rehabilitation?

Then it might be you we are looking for for our one-year temporary position in the activity team at Plejecenter Kærdalen.

Plejecenter Kærdalen is located in Vejen city, close to the town centre, and is Vejen Municipality's largest nursing home with 105 residences spread across two general care units, a special unit and rehabilitation.

As an activities assistant you will be attached to one of our wards, where you together with the residents and staff help decide which activities make sense and bring joy to everyday life.

We also have shared activities across the house, where several residents can meet and be part of a larger community. Here our volunteers play an important role, and you will have close collaboration with some of the many fantastic volunteers who help make Kærdalen a lively house.

We want more with the activities. We are working to develop our activities so they become even more meaningful and beneficial for the residents. The residents' own wishes are an important part of our work, and we use, among other things, resident meetings to listen to what they want, dream of and miss in their daily lives.

In 2026 we have placed extra focus on the rehabilitative approach. We have, among other things, set up a large room that is dedicated to physical activity and movement in many different ways.

We have a vision to create even more activities together across the house. When we have several activities staff around an activity, we have the opportunity to brainstorm with each other, think bigger and create even more opportunities for the residents. Therefore we are looking for you, who would like to help build on that vision.

You will become part of a strong activities team. You will be part of an activity group where collaboration and sparring are an important part of daily life.

Right now the group consists of two activities staff, and later this year another colleague will return. At the same time we want to strengthen the group further with a new colleague who wants to contribute to both stability, continuity and development.

We imagine that you

  • are passionate about activities and about the special work of creating good experiences for older residents
  • want to rethink activities and create offerings that are meaningful for the individual
  • can incorporate rehabilitation into your activities and see possibilities rather than limitations
  • have an appreciative and respectful approach to the residents
  • thrive in close collaboration with both residents, colleagues and volunteers
  • can juggle multiple tasks and adapt quickly if the day's needs change
  • hold a driving licence and are willing to be trained to drive Kærdalen's minibus
  • have a flair for IT and can navigate in different IT systems. It is an advantage if you have experience with Nexus and the Office suite.

We imagine that you may have a health-care background such as SSH, SSA, physiotherapist or occupational therapist – or perhaps you are trained as a pedagogue or have another relevant social-care background.

Your professional background is not the most important, though. It is your approach to the residents, your curiosity and not least that you are passionate about creating activities and good everyday lives for older people.

The activity is self-planned, and we have a good collaboration to make the duty roster work.

Working hours are flexible and will be at various times. You must therefore be prepared for work on weekends and holidays as well as afternoons and evenings when the activities require it.

In return you will have the opportunity to help plan your own daily life and put your mark on how the activities are organized.

The position is 30 hours per week in the activity.

If you want more hours, there will be an opportunity to supplement with hours in one of the departments where you participate in the care of the residents.

If that sounds like something for you, we look forward to hearing from you.

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact group leader Lone Pagård at tel. 30 17 05 32 or at email [email protected].

Application deadline: 18/10 2026

We expect to conduct interviews: 22/10 2026

Candidates we want to meet for a personal interview will be invited by email: 20/10 2026

The position is to be filled as soon as possible and no later than 1 December 2026
