You will be a central part of the product development of the TV 2 News app and have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a product that is used by more than one million Danes.

The team

Whether you mainly come in at Teglholmen or Kvægtorvet, it doesn’t matter. However, you should be prepared that there will be workdays at both locations, as it is important for us to meet and work together. We want to create close collaboration across the belt so we can deliver some of Denmark’s most used apps and ensure the quality users expect.

There is also daily flexibility, and you have the option to work from home during the week.

You will be part of both a product team and our competence team for app developers. In the product team you work closely with UX, product and QA to develop user-centric features. In the competence team, the app developers work across product teams with our shared tools, architecture, design system, standards and the quality of our apps.

We place great emphasis on close collaboration, both in the competence team and in the product team where you spend your daily time and tasks. It is important for us that we enjoy what we do, and therefore we continuously work on developer experience and overall job satisfaction.

The role

As an Android developer at TV 2, you will be part of the team behind the TV 2 News app. Here we work to make news, live updates and breaking news easily accessible to Danes on Android phones and tablets.

You will become part of an agile team where we combine technical curiosity with high quality and good collaboration. Here you will have both responsibility and the opportunity to contribute, while there is also time to write high-quality code.

We believe in freedom with responsibility. You will have a strong influence on technical decisions and how the team solves its tasks. At the same time, we expect you to take responsibility for your deliveries and contribute to getting the team’s solutions safely to the finish line.

Your primary tasks will be to

• be an engaged member of your product team.
• contribute to turning a loose idea into a concrete feature in the app and challenge existing solutions when there is reason to do so.
• write and maintain code in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• participate in technical design decisions and architectural discussions.
• contribute to architecture discussions and common technical decisions across TV 2’s Android apps.
• contribute to continuous improvements of code quality through refactoring, code reviews and testing.
• work closely with UX designers, product people and QA on holistic and user-friendly solutions.
• follow up on user feedback and performance measurements to optimize functionality and stability.
• be involved in evaluating and implementing new technologies and tools that can optimize our Android setup.
• contribute to our shared libraries and design system.

Your profile

We imagine that you have three or more years of experience with Android development and have been involved in developing, launching and maintaining apps or larger features in production. However, we are more interested in your professional approach, your mindset and what you have worked with than the exact number of years on your CV.

You are interested in the Android platform and keep up with new opportunities and technologies. You have the professional curiosity to challenge the existing setup constructively, while listening to and acknowledging others’ perspectives.

You take responsibility for delivering your tasks and contribute constructively to the team’s common progress. You thrive in collaboration with others and want to bring your skills into play across disciplines.

We expect you to have experience with

• Kotlin
• Jetpack Compose
• Kotlin Coroutines and Flow
• Dependency injection with Hilt
• Network communication with Retrofit
• Development and maintenance of native Android apps in production
• Handling text, images or video content in a native Android context
• Testing strategies, including unit tests, UI tests and working with test coverage

We also expect you to have experience with

• CI/CD and automation, for example with GitHub Actions
• Modular Android codebases and shared libraries
• Development or use of design systems
• App-specific backends such as Backend for Frontend, middleware or similar solutions
• Media3 and development of streaming, live or media products on Android
