About the job
Occupational health and safety consultant for Children and Young People, Aarhus Municipality
Would you like to help create a healthy and safe working environment for staff at our schools, day care centers, clubs, and professional offices within Children and Young People? Do you have experience with occupational health and safety, and do you thrive in an advisory role where you both support, guide and challenge? Then it might be you we are looking for.
As an occupational health and safety consultant you will be an important player in the work to develop and ensure a good working environment in Children and Young People. We see a good working environment as a prerequisite for fulfilling the vision of Children and Young People that all children and young people learn, thrive and develop.
About the job
You will become part of the Occupational Health and Safety Team, which supports managers and occupational health and safety groups in their systematic occupational health and safety work.
In the position you will work broadly with the occupational health and safety area. You will also be part of a professionally strong team where we solve tasks across and bring different competencies into play.
The day-to-day includes many different types of tasks. For example, follow-up on responses from the Danish Working Environment Authority, APV (workplace assessment), indoor climate, violence and threats, use of digital occupational health and safety systems, or development of materials and training for the occupational health and safety groups.
You will work in a large and complex organization, where occupational health and safety issues often require cross-disciplinary solutions across professions, offices and departments. Therefore it is important that you can see the concrete problem and at the same time understand the organizational context it is part of.
You often solve tasks together with a colleague, a manager or a local occupational health and safety group, but you must also be able to drive your own tasks from idea to solution.
Your tasks include among others
- support managers and occupational health and safety groups in their systematic occupational health and safety work
- help the occupational health and safety groups with the IT systems that Children and Young People provides for occupational health and safety work, e.g. SafetyNet and Danish Chemical Database
- develop and deliver courses for the occupational health and safety groups
- develop materials, tools and other solutions that make occupational health and safety work easier in practice
- communicate occupational health and safety knowledge, guidance and legislation on our occupational health portal “AMBU-online”
To succeed in the role you must have flair for IT and a user perspective when new IT systems and digital solutions are introduced. You do not need to know all systems in advance – the most important is that you want to learn new things and guide managers and occupational health and safety representatives in navigating the systems in a user-friendly way.
We imagine that you
- have solid experience with the occupational health and safety area, e.g. as an occupational health and safety consultant, as an occupational health representative or a manager from a public organization
- have an academic or professional background, preferably within the children and youth area
- have experience with and can operate confidently in the consultant role and know when the task calls for you to support, guide, challenge or quality assure
- are a strong communicator who can make complex knowledge understandable – both in teaching and in dialogue with your collaborators
- have a desire to delve into new knowledge, legislation and IT systems
- have experience from a politically governed organization – an advantage, but not a requirement.
As a person you are
- trustworthy and good at building relationships with different people and professional groups
- structured and good at prioritizing when several tasks and considerations must align
- independent and self-starting, while naturally seeking collaboration with your colleagues
- a team player who actively contributes to a good professional and social community
- good at reading a situation and showing professional judgment – even when the issues are complex
