About the job

Would you like to help carry the cultural heritage safely into the future? And would you like to be part of a strong professional environment where you independently will carry out design tasks on some of Denmark's most beautiful buildings?

Slots- and Kulturstyrelsen (the Agency for Slots and Culture) is responsible for caring for the state's castles, gardens and the buildings that house Denmark's most important cultural institutions. We work to preserve and develop the cultural heritage for the benefit of current and future generations, and we do this together in a combination of many strong professional disciplines.

We are currently facing several restoration and modernization projects and therefore need additional architects (or similar competencies) for design tasks.

About the job

Your tasks will typically include maintenance tasks, smaller restoration cases or smaller modernization projects that involve own design/architectural advice. This can include e.g. user processes, concept proposals, color schemes, preparation of drawings, descriptions and the like with subsequent authorities handling, procurement, supervision and construction management.

You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, economy and time usage of the cases. You will probably also participate in the ongoing building inspections conducted on the Agency's properties with the accompanying 10-year budgets. Your work can, however, also be more focused on design and interior tasks at selected castles.

In addition, you will help identify conservation values and address the restoration-related questions that always arise in connection with the handling of tasks in our special property portfolio.

You must be able to collaborate and communicate with colleagues, users and stakeholders at all levels and have an eye for dialogue and inclusion at the right time and place with both high and low.

We offer

You will join the design group, which consists of a team leader, a professional coordinator and about 15 colleagues including you – once we have assembled the full team. Our team is characterized by high professionalism and a strong sense of teamwork. The design group is part of the Center for Project & Client, where we together are about 45 employees who work with construction, transformation, modernization and restoration projects ranging from a few hundred thousand to many hundreds of millions of kroner. These are projects of all scales.

We continuously work to strengthen the restoration professional competences and knowledge about the Agency's portfolio, so we ensure consistent and competent maintenance, modernization and restoration of the properties. We stay up to date with developments in the restoration industry and maintain our knowledge through seminars, courses and site visits to relevant building sites, where we discuss restoration methods and attitudes and brainstorm with the best in the field.

You will enter an organization with great opportunities to influence the agenda and content of your work life with great flexibility, as well as strong collegiality and a unique professional environment.

In addition, you will encounter an organization with a strong focus on wellbeing, psychological safety and humor. We are an organization that places these things high on the agenda – not least because we believe it creates the happiest and most productive employees.

About you

We imagine that you are a trained architect or equivalent and have solid experience with design, supervision and construction management. We are interested in whether you have:

  • knowledge of restoration, building history and good building practice.
  • an interest in good collaboration processes and a desire to share your knowledge with others.
  • strong writing and speaking communication skills.
  • design experience and experience as a site supervisor on construction sites.
  • ability and willingness to work independently and a desire to become more skilled.

We expect you to have about 5 years of design and supervision experience, and that you can independently carry a case from pre-study to handover of the finished building.

Restoration competencies and experience with design on protected or preservable properties and experience with construction within the public sector are an advantage, but not a requirement. It could also be that you have extensive experience with interior design and modernization tasks with users in a property portfolio that places special demands on your abilities with processes and user involvement.

Terms of employment

These are full-time positions with employment as an administrator (fuldmægtig) or senior consultant depending on experience and qualifications. Employment and compensation are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the State and Akademikerne or another relevant agreement.

It is a condition of employment that you can obtain security clearance, and that you can maintain the security clearance during employment.

With us you will have a workplace where presence is highly valued. We believe in the value of meeting physically – both to solve tasks efficiently, to be able to spar and to maintain a strong sense of community. Therefore you must be prepared for the position to be largely based on physical presence at our address in Hammerichsgade
