About the job
Location: Copenhagen
Department: Architects
Employment Type: Fixed-term
At our office in Copenhagen we are always looking for talented and motivated Danish architecture students who are eager to learn and develop their skills. As an intern at BIG you will experience a dynamic and inspiring working environment in an international creative community. You will work with, and learn from, some of the best architects in the world and participate in exciting projects, social events, courses and much more.
You will be based at our new self-designed headquarters in Copenhagen together with 300 colleagues, but as an Architectural Intern you will be part of a small project team and will work on projects of varying type, size and location. The internship will help you develop and improve your design-, communication-, technical- and conceptual skills, while contributing to the development of the projects you become part of. At BIG you have great development opportunities – more than a third of our current architectural staff started here as interns.
On a daily basis you will work in Rhino or Revit and Adobe Suite and it is expected that you already have strong skills in these programs. You will assist in the production and development of design proposals, produce diagrams, drawings, virtual and physical models and visualizations for the projects you work on.
During your internship you will be exposed to increasingly independent work, solving technical- and design-related challenges and helping to make decisions regarding the final design of the project you are working on. You will learn about products, materials and construction methods in the EU and globally and you will observe and at times participate in meetings with management, project stakeholders, local authorities, approval bodies and sub-consultants.
At BIG, interns are actively participating in the design process, sketching and developing ideas on equal footing with more experienced staff. We highly value our interns and ensure a broad distribution of tasks. In the office we emphasise camaraderie and encourage all employees to feel ownership of the architecture being created.
NB: This internship advertisement is aimed only at architecture students at KADK and Aarhus School of Architecture who will undertake a 5-month internship in the 6th semester.
