About the job

We are seeking a clinical supervisor for the Department of Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries, Section 611 , who wants to combine nursing close to the patient with guidance, professional development and a strong focus on a good learning environment.

What will your duties be?

The department receives nursing students at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th semester levels and social and health care assistant students in 3.R practice.

As a clinical supervisor you will participate in staffing and have your own patients. In addition, you will be part of the daily pedagogical work with planning, implementation and evaluation of educational programs in the department. Specifically, it is intended that you as a clinical supervisor take turns with students with a starting point in pre-, during- and post-guidance.

It will be your task, in cooperation with the clinical instructor, to connect students to patients who fit the individual educational focus and level and to support students in focusing professionally on the clinic-near and neurological nursing in relation to patient pathways.

You will work together with a well-functioning staff group that has a strong interest in neurorehabilitation and in teaching, but which lacks you in daily life to share your pedagogical experience with more. We expect that you can work purposefully, systematically and structured with guidance and evaluation of the students.

Being a clinical supervisor in the department involves collaboration with the head nurse, the staff group, the clinical nursing specialists and the clinical instructor, who has the overall responsibility for learners and students.

Other tasks

  • Actively contribute to ensuring and developing a good learning environment
  • Introduce learners locally to the organization of care
  • Plan and implement study activity requirements and prerequisite requirements
  • Initiate daily reflection with the student as well as during mandatory reflection exercises
  • Continue developing the good learning environment and join a supervisor team across the departments.
  • Guide the staff group in connection with concrete learning processes
  • After agreement and training be a supervisor and examiner at internal examination in the 4th or 6th semester
  • Participate in implementing pedagogical methods and initiatives in your own department.

Who are we?

Department of Brain Injury, Bodil Eskesen Center, Rigshospitalet Glostrup, is a highly specialized neurological rehabilitation unit. We receive patients from all of Eastern Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, aged from 1 year and up. A common feature for all these patients is that they are critically ill on admission due to acquired brain injury caused by trauma from falls, traffic accidents, severe brain hemorrhage, oxygen deprivation after cardiac arrest, severe cerebral infections and much more.

In Section 611 we have space for 15 highly specialized patients with acquired brain injuries, of which four beds are for semi-intensive patients with cuffed tracheal tubes. We only have planned admissions, and we never have overcrowding.

The Department of Brain Injury is a department with many complex issues; we have a very broad patient category, which means you will have the opportunity to develop expertise within many nursing areas and with many instrumental tasks. In addition, you will also be able to develop in relational work, as our patients are hospitalized for longer periods and a brain injury affects not only the patient but the whole family.

What can we offer you?

  • We can guarantee you that you will not have two days that look alike
  • Keeping your own knowledge up to date in the pedagogical and nursing-specific fields, including participating in relevant courses and conferences with the aim of qualifying your own pedagogical and nursing professional competencies
  • Planned administrative time for handling supervision tasks.

What do we expect from you?

  • That you already have a clinical supervisor qualification
  • That you are passionate about teaching, and can assist students with all you can
  • That you can combine your workday with nursing close to the patient, supervision, collaboration with many multidisciplinary partners in a highly specialized department

Working hours

This is a permanent position of 32-37 hours per week. Weekend shifts every 3rd or 4th weekend. Possibility of 2 or 3 shift rotations, but predominantly day shifts.
