About the job

Be part of shaping a meaningful youth life in Spor D at UiU Horsebakken.

UiU Education Centre, Horsebakken department, is seeking as of December 1, 2026 a committed and professionally grounded occupational therapist for a permanent full-time position in Spor D.

About UiU and everyday life in Spor D

UiU is Copenhagen Municipality's STU (Transition to Youth) and a 10th grade offer for young people with special needs and extensive general learning difficulties. The young people are aged 15-25 and stay at UiU for up to four years.

Spor D is UiU’s provision for young people who typically have several disabilities – e.g., cerebral palsy, epilepsy, visual impairment, blindness or autism. Many have little or no spoken language and use specialized tools and personal aids such as a walking frame and a wheelchair. Our students need support for almost all daily activities such as eating, dressing and undressing, personal hygiene and toilet use.

Our approach is appreciative and tailored to each individual young person’s potential. The aim is to support the young people in becoming as independent and socially competent as possible, so they have the most influence on their own lives. We do this by organizing everyday life with both structure, repetition and visual aids, where the young people learn to navigate, make choices and relate to their day-to-day life in a community setting.

We work with communication and various alternative communication forms such as PODD, sign-supported Danish, pictures, boardmaker, iPads and smartboards. The physical aspect is also important, and therefore movement, sensory stimulation, music, cooking and creative activities are also part of daily life.

Your role and tasks

As an occupational therapist in Spor D you become part of an interdisciplinary team where we help each other solve daily tasks – both in teaching, activities and with practical tasks around the students, such as eating, changing and toilet visits. You will also be responsible for documenting each student’s development and for being a contact person for some of the young people, which entails close collaboration with parents and a good cooperation with the staff at the club.

An important part of the role is also the task as equipment officer at UiU, where you will advise colleagues on and adapt and follow up on the students’ special tools and personal aids. You will also have the opportunity to influence the development of pedagogical and occupational therapy interventions in the team.

You should thrive working跨-disciplinary and contribute your own professional expertise to the team. It is expected that you participate in the group’s daily life on equal terms with other staff and take part in all relevant tasks.

We expect that you

  • are a trained occupational therapist
  • are eager and ready to work with young people with multiple disabilities at an early development stage
  • have interest in or experience with alternative communication forms
  • have knowledge of sensory stimulation and sensory integration as well as experience with special tools and ADL training
  • are motivated by creating structure and predictability for the young people
  • can document and communicate the students’ progression in writing and orally
  • can take on the responsibility as UiU’s equipment officer
  • thrive with close collaboration with colleagues, parents and other professionals
  • preferably have familiarity with autism or visual impairment, but this is not a requirement

We offer

  • a stimulating position in an interdisciplinary environment with high professional standards
  • a workplace focused on collaboration, wellbeing and sparring
  • dedicated colleagues who are passionate about making a difference for the young people

About the employment

Working hours are typically from 8.00 to 16.00. The annual full-time norm applies from August 1 to July 31. This means you primarily work within 40 school weeks plus a number of preparation, pedagogical and meeting days agreed in connection with the school year planning. Students are present from 8.20 to 13.30 on 200 school days per year. Activities are arranged so that the occupational therapist daily has teaching- and education-related tasks primarily in the time frame 8.00-14.00 on 200 school days.

In addition there will be a limited number of student/parent events in the afternoons and evenings during a school year. In the team there will be meeting activities as well as meetings on the school level. There will be a number of hours for preparation.
