Do you have experience with children where ADHD and autism occur together and a desire to become a permanent support for a happy and active boy? You get 15 fixed hours per week, where the relationship, security and the good togetherness are central.

About the task

You become a fixed support for a happy and active 8-year-old boy with Down syndrome, autism and ADHD. He has limited verbal language and benefits from structure, pictograms and clear guidance in daily life.

He needs good time to take in proposals and switch between activities. It is important that you can read his signals and understand how his need for structure and predictability interacts with his impulsivity and high activity level. Your task is to adjust the tempo and create security around activities and transitions – without pressuring him.

Together you can, for example, play with cars, play ball, listen to music, do puzzles or go on small trips. The family has a summer house about 20-25 minutes by car from home, which can also frame your time together. The family provides a car for the trips.

As part of the task you also help with personal care, including diaper changes, care around the feeding tube and tube feeding and medicine according to a fixed schedule, which you will be trained in.

The family has a cat, so it is important that you can be in a home with a cat.

About you

You have a relevant professional background and experience from the special education field and have worked with children where autism and ADHD occur together. It is an advantage if you also have experience with Down syndrome, but it is not a requirement.

You are calm and clear in your approach and good at creating structure and predictability. You can read the child’s signals and adjust tempo and demands so you support him without pressuring him.

You are prepared for personal care and to be trained in tube feeding and medicine.

Working hours

The position is 15 hours per week and takes place on weekdays after 14:00. Shifts are typically 3 hours. The concrete days and times are agreed with the family.

The position may be relevant for you who, for example, are in a flex job or for other reasons seek a fixed job of 15 hours per week.
