About the job

Are you the one who creates calm when the rest of the house is asleep?

At Fenrishus we are looking for a social and health care assistant for our night shift team.

We are receiving more children and young people, and therefore we need another colleague who wants to be an important part of their everyday life – also at night.

Perhaps you are the type who naturally notices when a child needs a little extra attention.

Perhaps you can stay calm when something unexpected arises.

Perhaps you are curious about people and want to understand what lies behind a reaction.

And perhaps you are also the type who arrives with a willingness to be part of a team – and who would rather ask: “What can we do?” than “Why should we do that?”

We would love to hear from you.

About the job

As a night shift worker at Fenrishus you will work with children and young people with complex problems and different needs for support, care and nursing.

The night is not just about being present while the children sleep. You are an important part of their security, well-being and quality of life – and you must be able to be present and attentive to each child’s needs, even when communication does not necessarily happen with words.

We work professionally and academically with the children and the young people, but we believe that professionalism and humanity must go hand in hand.

Therefore it matters to us that you

  • meet the children and the young people with calm, respect and warmth
  • are curious about the individual person rather than assuming you know the answer
  • can take responsibility and act when the situation requires it
  • actively contribute to good collaboration with your colleagues
  • dare to bring your observations and ideas into play, development is taken seriously by management
  • can see opportunities and solutions – even when something is difficult
  • want to learn and develop professionally
  • understand the value of interdisciplinary collaboration
  • can be present and caring without losing your professionalism
  • It is a requirement that you have a driving license

You do not need to know everything from the start. We provide an individually tailored introductory program.

If you have experience with children and young people with complex needs, that is, of course, a benefit. But the most important thing is that you have the desire, curiosity and respect for the person you are facing. The rest we can help you learn.

You will become part of a night shift team

Although most of the house sleeps at night, you are never simply “alone at work.”

You will become part of a larger night shift team and a workplace where we value openness, dialogue and helping each other. Currently there are at least 4 people from the night shift team working every night.

We need colleagues who want to help create a culture where we share knowledge, ask each other for advice and take responsibility for both the children, the young people and each other.

For us, a good colleague is not necessarily the one who always has the answer.

It is also the one who is curious, communicates in a proper way, helps a colleague when needed – and contributes to making it nice to go to work.

The most important thing is the children

At Fenrishus the child’s and the young person’s needs are at the center.

We work with care, presence, relief and quality of life, and with respect for the fact that every child and every young person is a person with their own story, their own resources and their own needs.

This requires professionalism. But it also requires heart, a view of the individual, and the courage to be present – even when it is difficult.

If you can see yourself in that, we would like to hear from you.

Experience is an advantage – but your approach to people matters at least as much.

About Fenrishus and SBU

Fenrishus is a department under the Special Area for Children and Young People (SBU) and is located on Fenrisvej in Aarhus. Here, children and young people aged 0-25 with massive and enduring mental and physical disabilities are received. At Fenrishus social and health care assistants, social and health care aides, nurses, educators and therapists work in a strong interdisciplinary environment.

Through observations and nursing-related measures we ensure that the health of the children and young people is as good as possible. We treat, in collaboration with a pediatric specialist, the complications that the children and the young people have or develop as a result of their handicap.

The effort is carried out in close collaboration with the children’s parents.

As all children and young people at Fenrishus have diagnoses of life-threatening character, and therefore a shorter life expectancy, a palliative approach is used, which, in short, focuses on relieving suffering and quality of life for the individual child/young person and their family.

SBU consists of several specialized departments, internal schools and special kindergartens. In addition, we offer STU and individually tailored day offers. This enables the organization to respond when municipalities request a particularly specialized offer. For us, it is an important social task to create opportunities for the most vulnerable children and young people. You can read more on our website.
