Welcome inside the non-psychosis 24/7 inpatient unit

The Psychiatric Center Amager has consolidated the treatment of patients with “non-psychosis” disorders, i.e. affective disorders, personality disorders, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD and anxiety conditions in a specialised intensive 24/7 inpatient unit.

Section D1 has 15 intensive beds. The unit focuses on CBT and DBT milieu therapy, to minimize the use of all types of coercion, among other things by expanding competencies within the target group with further training and ongoing courses. The position is to be filled as a consultant without ward leadership.

The unit has close collaboration with the open ward with 16 beds for the same target group, located next door. We expect multidisciplinary staff, doctors and a clinical psychologist to cross-work to some extent to create continuity in the pathways. Close collaboration with relevant outpatient clinics in FACT with the same target group.

The unit also has patients admitted with psychosis, since the patient base in the catchment area for “non-psychosis” disorders constitutes about 2/3 of the capacity of the 24/7 unit.

What tasks will you have?

Clinical tasks

• Reviews of new patients in collaboration with the junior doctor daily.
• Carry out focused assessment, treatment and possibly referral to other treatment offerings
• Set the milieu-therapeutic direction – the unit focuses on CBT and DBT, so experience with this is an advantage. Otherwise we are happy to provide training in this.
• Supervision of the junior doctor's rounds and ward rounds
• Supervision of multidisciplinary staff
• Close multidisciplinary collaboration with municipal actors in collaboration with the unit’s permanent social worker

As a consultant you lead the patient pathways in the units. The position does not include ward leadership, but we expect you to collaborate on medical development in the unit with the chief nurse.

About us in section D1

Section D1 consists of a chief nurse, nurses, assistants, pedagogues, occupational therapist, psychologist, social worker and medical secretary. There is good cross-department collaboration in the house, both between wards and in the medical group.

D1 is a new ward with many new employees, so you should have the courage to contribute to building competencies in the multidisciplinary staff group.

Salary and employment terms

The position is 37 hours per week with start on 1/3-2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is on-call. You will participate either in night duty or Specialist on-call in Front (SIF) with expected 2-3 shifts from 15:30-20:00 monthly plus a weekend every other month.

You will be employed under the agreement for consultants, including the provisions on working time (As a consultant in the Capital Region Psychiatry you are on-call).

The region is a 24-hour area, and you may, based on concrete needs, be scheduled for shifts at other times in accordance with the rules in the current working time agreement/working time rules in the collective agreement.

About the Psychiatric Center Amager

The Psychiatric Center Amager is part of Amager and Hvidovre Hospital. The center has a catchment area that, apart from Christianshavn, covers all of Amager and Vesterbro including Sydhavnen. The population is about 260,000 inhabitants with expected further population growth. The center has 9 24/7 units with a total of 129 beds distributed across five intensive and four open, subspecialized wards. Outpatient treatment is carried out in two psychiatric outpatient clinics at Hans Bogbinders Allé and Gl.

Kongevej and in the Psychotherapeutic and Geriatric Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic located at Digevej. In addition we have a Street-level Team, OPUS Outpatient Clinic and a supported housing team.

The Psychiatric Center Amager is a university hospital with educational and teaching activities and a Research Unit. The center is classified for training doctors in all position categories KBU- (clinical basic training), Specialist in General Medicine as well as introductory and main residency positions in psychiatry and for training of clinical psychologists. The center conducts student teaching of medical students on the 10th semester at the University of Copenhagen.
