Are you the new coordinator for our logistics and warehouse unit?

Do you have a geoscience background and a desire to support GEUS’ field campaigns in Denmark and Greenland? Are you also good at coordination and practical work? Then you are the one we are looking for for a position in our logistics and warehouse unit in Taastrup.

We are seeking a geoscience employee who will take on the responsibility for the Greenland-focused logistics and warehouse unit as well as the Danish and Greenlandic sample archive. The person will also be responsible for the overall coordination of work across the different functions in our warehouse and archive.

About the position

GEUS plays an important role in the geological exploration of Denmark’s and Greenland’s subsurface. For this purpose, we have a number of research-support functions, many of which are consolidated in our warehouse in Taastrup. Here, large quantities of core samples from the Danish subsurface and geological samples from Greenland are handled. Our buildings in Taastrup also house all the equipment used when GEUS’ staff go on fieldwork, as well as laboratory facilities including core scanning, sampling, and seismic collection.

You will be responsible for coordinating the different functions in the logistics and warehouse unit in Taastrup and supporting GEUS’ many field activities. Not least, the fieldwork in Greenland places high demands on logistical support at a high level, and you will have an important task in participating in fieldwork preparations, including the preparation of export and weapon permits, procurement of equipment, etc.

You will thus play a central role in both getting the expeditions well under way and ensuring that the important geological samples brought back are handled and registered securely. You will also be responsible for a number of practical and administrative tasks that are part of the warehouse’s daily operations.

The facilities are used extensively by GEUS’ many scientists, and we also provide various services to private companies. Through your work you should contribute to the logistics and warehouse unit functioning professionally and efficiently, and help create a work environment characterized by high job satisfaction among staff. You must also help ensure good and smooth interaction between the unit and its users.

Who are you?

You are a geologist or have another relevant natural science master’s degree. We place emphasis on your experience with fieldwork and logistics, as well as insight into GEUS’ many fields of work. You thrive on creating overview, coordinating, and taking responsibility for practical tasks. It is an advantage if you have experience with coordinating multiple tasks and areas – and also preferably automated warehouse management.

GEUS has a very international workforce and foreign partners. The working language will be Danish, but you must also be able to speak, read and write English. We value good humor and an attitude where people help each other when it’s busy.

We are your new colleagues

You will administratively be part of the Department of Mapping and Mineral Resources, which researches the composition of Greenland’s bedrock, its geochemistry and mineralogy, as well as the formation and development of bedrock.

You will work daily in the logistics and warehouse unit in Taastrup, where there are currently three permanent employees in addition to you, and where many of GEUS’ other staff come to use or contribute to the warehouse’s many functions.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the relevant collective agreement.
