Do you have experience with dementia – and can you help create calm and structure in daily life?

About the task

The assignment is with a 78-year-old man with Alzheimer9s, who lives in a nursing home and needs 1:1 support around the clock. He needs a calm and familiar everyday life, where fixed routines and clear guidance help him maintain an overview and security. He uses a wheelchair, but can walk short distances and move with support.

Your task is to be present and create a stable daily life with recognizable frames. You support in daily tasks such as personal care, dressing, cooking, cleaning and laundry. At the same time it is important that you are attentive to his signals and adjust pace and demands so he does not become unsettled or overloaded.

He enjoys calm activities and conversations, including about music, non-fiction and his previous work life. You support him in sticking with what he is interested in, and in maintaining contact with the other residents.

About you

You are unskilled, a pedagogue or SSA and have experience with citizens with dementia or Alzheimer9s disease. It is an advantage if you have experience with personal care and with supporting citizens who, at times, can react with agitation or frustration. You are used to working from a Low Arousal approach and can remain calm in challenging situations.

9s signals and tailor your support to the individual situation. At the same time you thrive in collaborating closely with your colleagues and contributing to a common professional approach to the task.

At start you complete e-learning in transferring, ergonomics and hygiene.

Working hours

The position averages 36 hours per week. You work 12-hour shifts from 8:00 to 20:00.

Even weeks – 24 hours: Wednesday and Thursday

Odd weeks – 48 hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday

It is expected that you are flexible and able to take on other shifts in connection with illness and vacation in the team.
