About the job
We are looking for a colleague who can join our team of skilled teachers in the building constructor education. You must have a construction-related background and be eager to both teach, guide and participate in research and development projects.
Your tasks
You are as a person broadly academically grounded and could take on teaching and development tasks within one or more of the following areas:
- Design work within both new-build and renovation (we expect that you can design in Revit or similar software)
- Digital skills in design of MEP
- Work with fire consultancy and design
- Building physics, including moisture and energy efficiency
- Work with BIM/VDC
In addition to teaching you will also act as a supervisor on the programme's study, internship and examination projects. Development and research projects are also a part of our everyday life. You should therefore be prepared that part of your working time will be devoted to participating in project work.
Your professional profile
We expect that you have a relevant professional education, for example as a building constructor, building engineer or architect. You preferably have a minimum of 5 years of experience with different types of construction. You have experience with design of various types of digital projects, including BIM/VDC, and you are not afraid to adapt and learn new things. It will be a plus if you also have knowledge of MS Project, Tactplan or Sigma. However, the most important is that you can get to grips with new programs.
You are used to working in a project-oriented way and you see the whole rather than the parts. You are good at creating and maintaining professional relationships and you are passionate about creating the builders of the future.
If you have teaching experience and a pedagogical education it would be an advantage, but it is not a condition for becoming part of the teaching team at the building constructor program.
As a person you are
Good at building close relationships with both students and colleagues. You are engaged, curious, proactive and open.
Your ambitions to create optimal learning paths mean that you contribute and take initiatives for pedagogical and professional renewal; the world changes, and so do we. Therefore it is a natural part of your work to develop yourself for the benefit of the students and to inspire your colleagues and the local business community.
You are a team player, and you are prepared to collaborate with colleagues, students, businesses, research and other stakeholders in our education programs.
We therefore expect that you are
- Outgoing, curious and have a good sense of humor
- Team player – who gives and takes from the team
- Research- and development-oriented and will help create new knowledge and solutions for the industry
In the job you will need to focus on teaching and learning, where you will join an experimental study environment with students and colleagues.
As we work closely with industry, you should also be willing to help build partnerships with companies and other stakeholders in the sector.
We offer
At UCL you have the opportunity to make a clear mark on the future construction industry by educating and inspiring the next generation of building constructors. At the same time you become part of a professional environment with great freedom to influence teaching, projects and collaborations.
The position provides good opportunities to engage in research and development activities, where new knowledge is translated into value for the education and the industry. For us, it is important that there is a good balance between work life and private life, while you also have time to pursue your professional passion.
As a lecturer on the programme you also have real influence on the development of the programme content, pedagogy and disciplinary direction in close cooperation with colleagues, students and the business community .
The Building Constructor programme is organized in the Department of Construction and Technology, where we are 53 staff across 11 technical/science programs. We emphasize being good colleagues in a working environment with a high ceiling and a focus on high professionalism in our problem solving.
You will be employed in an adjunct position. This means that you must obtain lecturer qualification within the first 4 years of your employment. This process includes tasks within full-time education, research and development, as well as continuing education.
If you have a bachelor-level education, you must complete a relevant master's program before starting the adjunct program. This means that during the first 2 years of your employment you will complete your master's degree. Thereafter you transition to a 4-year adjunct program.
Employment
You will be employed from February 1, 2027 and your average working time will be 37 hours per week.
Your primary place of employment will be in Odense. Since we have study trips, conferences and other relevant activities, travel is expected of 5-15 days per year.
The appointment is made in accordance with the circular on the collective agreement for Academics in the state or the circular on the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Teachers' Central Organization and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 (LC/CO10 collective agreement) , as well as the royal decree on the position structure for teachers at business academies, professional bachelor’s degrees and the Danish Media and Journalism School . The position is covered by the principles of New Pay.
If you are hired as an adjunct, you will enter a lecturer qualification process, cf. Royal Decree on lecturer qualification, lecturer evaluation and docent evaluation of teachers at business academies, professional bachelor's colleges, Denmark's Media and Journalists' School and certain maritime educational institutions . An adjunct process is a maximum of 4 years.
If you are hired as a lecturer, we would prefer that you are lecturer-qualified according to the 2013 position structure.
If you are lecturer-qualified according to earlier position structures, you can, by agreement, choose that the appointment takes place on the previously centrally fixed wage and employment terms according to the 2003 position structure, which among other things can affect the size of your lecturer allowance and the possibility of being appointed as a member of the lecturer evaluation committee.
Alternatively, you can agree on renewed lecturer evaluation under the current position structure and according to the rules in Chapter 5 of the Royal Decree on lecturer qualification, lecturer evaluation and docent evaluation of teachers at business academies, professional bachelor's colleges, Denmark's Media and Journalists' School and certain maritime educational institutions . The evaluation is based on a short eight-page lecturer application concerning research and development competencies.
The application must be submitted to UCL as part of the recruitment process. The evaluation will be decided within 3-6 weeks by an external evaluation committee appointed by UCL. In case of a negative evaluation, the appointment may proceed under the previous position structure or as an adjunct.
UCL offers guidance in connection with the preparation of the application.
