Atuarfik Hans Lynge is seeking dedicated and caring support persons.

The positions are part-time 20 hours per week.

Atuarfik Hans Lynge is located at the end of Nuuk city, in Qinngorput. The school is situated in a natural area with mountains, waterfalls and lakes. Atuarfik Hans Lynge is a modern school that was brought into use at the start of the 2011 school year. The school houses all teaching rooms as well as modern IT equipment, such as iPads and Apple TV.

The school has grades 1-10, run in 2 and 3 tracks. There are currently 516 pupils and 47 teachers.

We expect that you

·Trained as a support person or have a pedagogical education, preferably with additional knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities. Or unskilled with experience in children and youth, preferably with practical skills in providing the help

·Robust, patient, friendly, good at cooperating, stable, responsible and respectful

·Can take responsibility and work independently

·Are cooperative with regards to colleagues and parents, and you are willing to engage in pedagogical discussions about our work

·Bilingual (Greenlandic and Danish) is an advantage, but not a requirement

Key tasks

·Generally support and train the child in relation to their mental, physical and social development

·Provide social-pedagogical support according to the goals set in the child’s action plan

·Help with daily tasks where the child is

·Encourage the child towards increased independence

·Participate in staff meetings

·Participate in supervision

·Participate in status meetings with the municipality and parents

·Collaborate with the rest of the staff at the child’s site

·Prepare a status report

Criminal and Background Check

This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child background checks. Under the law, employment may only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child background checks. We therefore wish to point out that the start date can only be agreed once the municipality has received the child background check from the National Police and the criminal background check from the Police.

The child background check is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, whereas the criminal background check is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Greenland Self-Government, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Greenland Self-Government and the involved negotiating organization.

The appointment will be made with a 3-month probationary period.
