About the school

You will become part of a school with approximately 1,000 students spread across grades 1-10 and with 9 special classes. We are a completely new school in development and in the coming years we will have a strong focus on 21st-century competencies, project-based learning, teamwork, quality development and strengthening the students' academic level.

The school's vision is to create students who can be creative, cooperative, think critically, have digital literacy, have good communication skills and who can work across disciplines.

The school's vision for learning environments is; to increase academic achievement, stimulate learning and well-being for the individual, support a different kind of learning than the traditional one and to create a teaching environment where we base our approach on each student’s needs and give the student a desire to learn.

The school currently consists of 92 employees distributed across 4 departments, namely grades 1-3, 4-7, 8-10 and a special department. There is a principal, three deputy principals and 4 year leaders with a coordinator for the special classes. The positions are full-time.

We are seeking

Currently we are seeking a teacher for grade 2 with various competencies and who can teach the subjects English, Danish, history and creative subjects

You must be prepared for close teamwork with the other teachers in the team and in the department, as well as close contact with parents.

Criminal and Child Background Check

This position is subject to the obligation to obtain criminal and child background checks. Under the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child background checks. Therefore, please note that the start date can only be agreed when the municipality has received the child background check from the national police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child background check is obtained by the municipality with the individual's consent, whereas the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of taking up duty between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiable organization.

The employment will be on a 3-month probation period.

Accommodation

There may be designated staff housing for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the current rules for rent payments in the Government of Greenland’s and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be provided immediately at anleichment, temporary vacant housing will be offered to employees with the right to vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above. The start date depends on when staff housing is available. A start travel allowance and household goods relocation are provided according to the applicable rules.
