Avedøre Church seeks organist

A position as organist / church musician at Avedøre Church is available as of January 1, 2027

The position is 37 hours per week.

We are seeking an organist and choir director to lead the church's musical activities in connection with high masses, liturgical actions, concerts, etc.

The position includes

• Worship services, liturgical actions and monthly services at our two nursing homes.
• Musical accompaniment for contemplation moments every Tuesday.
• Baby hymn singing is handled by the church culture staff, but the organist must be able to step in as a substitute in case of illness/ holiday.
• Leadership of the church's girls' choir of 12 singers, which sings at weddings, baptisms and high masses. Weekly rehearsal evening on Thursday.
• Occasional participation in confirmation preparation, lectures, church dinners and other events.
• Planning – and possibly contributing themselves to about 3 concerts annually.
• Participation in a staff meeting ("calendar meeting"), usually once every 14 days.
• Participation in the church's Life and Growth group, with about 4 meetings per year.
• Maintenance of the church's Frobenius organ and piano.
• Possibility to initiate a children's / junior choir.

We would appreciate if you

• Are trained as an organist from the conservatory, the Folk Church Church Music School or an equivalent institution in Denmark or abroad.
• Are proficient in conducting a choir.
• Wish and are able to become part of a good working community.
• Have an approachable attitude to the tasks you will face.
• Are an independent, "teamplayer".
• Have a broad network within the music world concerning the need for substitutes and external concert musicians and choir singers.
• Have a good knowledge of the Church of Denmark's organization and the organist's role, responsibilities and duties in a Danish folk church.

Salary and employment terms, etc.

Employment is with the Avedøre Parish Council located at Trædrejerporten 6, 2650 Hvidovre.

The employment of an organist with a degree as "Church musician with Organ and Choir Direction" or an organist with a PO degree is covered by the Agreement between City, Rural and Church Ministry and CO10 – Central Organisation of 2010.

Organists with a church music bachelor's or master's degree are covered by a protocol to the academic agreement on contractual employment of DOCK organists and permanent teachers at church music schools concluded between the Academics and the City-, Rural- and Church Ministry.

Current civil servant organists have the right to retain their civil service status when employed with a direct transfer. In that case, the position must be classified.

The annual salary for applicants with church musician training in organ and choir direction (formerly PO organists) is agreed in accordance with the agreed basic salary grade system. Basic grade 1 constitutes DKK 348,201 per year (current kroner) and basic grade 2 constitutes DKK 365,841 per year (current kroner). Placement is based on seniority.

The annual salary for applicants with a church music candidate degree (DOKS) is agreed according to the new salary AC scale. That is a gross salary between DKK 360,853 – 439,707 per year (current kroner).

There is a service obligation attached to the position. The service allowance amounts to DKK 29,665 per year (current kroner). Placement and service allowance are provided according to seniority. Additionally, depending on local negotiations, qualification and function allowances may be paid.

Salary and service allowances are prorated in accordance with the appointment fraction of the position.
