About the job

Can you transform stories into experiences that make children and youths listen, play, and get swept away – at the library, in day-care centers, and at schools? Are you enthusiastic about being active and naturally inclined to put yourself in the game? Then read on.

About the job and the tasks

At Hedensted Libraries we are in full swing creating a vibrant library and culture house, where children and young people not only pass by but want to stay. We are building on strong collaborations with the municipality's schools and day-care centers and are simultaneously creating new communities with young people.

Now we need you to help us with all of this while our good colleague is on maternity leave. You will join Team Children and Families and will work across the targets we focus on in the team.

The library's activities are in demand, and you will take the lead in both day-care centers and schools with dissemination – from book-walker courses to book talks and everything that makes books and stories move from the pages and into the children's reality.

In addition, we dream that the library becomes a place the young people feel ownership of. We therefore focus on youth through our project Culture Pilots, where we help young people develop and realize events, experiences and activities for other children and young people. You will also become part of this.

You will also be part of library shifts, run evening events, and participate in Friday- and Saturday shifts about every 6 weeks.

Our expectations of you

We hope that you

  • Love meeting people and get something special out of communicating, engaging, and creating excitement.
  • Thrive with variation and find it more enjoyable with a patchwork of tasks than with a neat, predefined job description.
  • Can improvise and find a good path forward when reality disrupts the plan.
  • Can take responsibility for a task, think independently, and have the courage to see it through – with your coordinator and colleagues on standby.
  • Have good target group knowledge and can tailor your dissemination to those you meet.
  • Can figure things out on your own and say when you need help.
  • Take responsibility for your tasks and the atmosphere around them.

Your education does not need to fit into one specific box. You can be a pedagogue, teacher, children's librarian, or something entirely different. However, your CV should show us that you have experience with children and/or young people.

Why you should choose us

The libraries in Hedensted are in an exciting development. We are revising our strategy, working towards a new Cultural House in the town of Hedensted, and strengthening our offerings across the municipality.

  • You will have the opportunity to quickly take responsibility, make your professional mark, and help turn ideas into reality.
  • You will become part of a work community with room for curiosity, development, and new ideas.
  • We prioritize professional sparring, collaboration, and good opportunities to develop your skills and your network.

In short: You get the chance to make a difference today and help create tomorrow's library and culture house.
