Maternity Leave Vacancy - Children's Librarian at Gladsaxe Main Library

At Gladsaxe Main Library we open the door to a world full of literature, which we invite children and their families to explore. With us there is room for books, creativity and play, both in activities and in immersion.

The Children's Library is well visited by families with children, especially on weekends, and on weekdays by school classes. We want even more people to experience their library as a relevant place for them.

We are looking for a children’s educator who can make stories and narratives come alive, create curiosity and an appetite for more.

Tasks in the job

• serving children, young people and their families when you are on loan duty - both in the children’s library and at our shared information desk, where you meet all types of citizens
• to be an active host who takes responsibility for the library’s spaces and daily operations - and also for the activities and the communities that arise around them
• to assist in delivering our outreach/education offerings to schools and daycare institutions

Our expectations of you

• has professionally relevant education and experience in communicating with children and families, preferably from a children’s library
• is a strong communicator who dares to think innovatively, be creative and experiment with formats that speak to the real lives of children and young people
• has knowledge of the latest children’s and young adult literature and can recommend good reading experiences that appeal to many different children and young people
• can handle the many practical tasks that arise during the day in a busy and well-visited library

At Gladsaxe Libraries you will become part of the Department for Knowledge, Learning and Literature, which is based at Gladsaxe Main Library. Gladsaxe Libraries consist of a main library, three local libraries, Bibliografen and Telefonfabrikken - Gladsaxe Culture House.

The position is a maternity cover for 32 hours per week, with expected start on 1 December 2026. The working hours will include evenings and weekends.
