About the job

  • do you want to use your professionalism and help shape the Secretariat of the future?

Cardiology at Regionshospitalet Horsens is looking for a trained medical secretary/health administration coordinator for a permanent full-time position with start date 1 December 2026 or by agreement.

We are a relatively new department – only 1 year old, and we are not quite finished finding our form yet. We actually think that’s a good thing. For us, there is a short path from idea to action, and you will have the opportunity to be involved when we develop workflows, test new solutions, and together figure out what makes the most sense for both patients, clinicians, and the secretariat. We are a secretariat with 13 dedicated colleagues, a lot of experience and professionalism – and a shared curiosity about how we can do things even better.

We are well underway – but we are not finished

One of the things occupying us right now is speech recognition. We are well underway to making speech recognition function as a natural part of our everyday life. It is no longer just a pilot project or something we talk about – we use it, adjust our workflows, and continually become wiser about how to get the most out of the technology. This also means that your work as a medical secretary/SAK will be in flux.

When the technology can take over some of the classic writing tasks, we gain the opportunity to use our health administration professionalism even more where it makes a difference. Therefore you should not only be good at typing. We need you who can think, coordinate, create overview, and see possibilities.

With us you will have a daily life where...

→ you become part of the development

We are still finding our place as an independent department and secretariat. New workflows emerge, are tested, adjusted, and sometimes changed again. You will therefore not just get a finished manual – you will get the opportunity to help create it.

→ speech recognition is part of reality

We continue to work purposefully to take speech recognition into good use. We learn together, find good workflows and look at how the technology best supports our professionalism and our clinical colleagues.

→ your professional skills come into play

You will become part of cross-disciplinary communities around our subspecialties and work closely with doctors, nurses and other colleagues on patient pathways, quality and coordination.

→ there is little distance from idea to action

We are a relatively small department with short decision-making paths. We know each other, and we have good opportunities to act when something needs to be changed or improved.

→ we dare to question the things we usually do

We work with Choose Wisely in practice. As an ambassador hospital, we are focused on choosing solutions that make sense – and not just doing something because “that’s how we’ve always done it.”

What will you do?

Your tasks will include, among others

  • patient contact – both at reception and on the phone
  • handling referrals, follow-up and planning
  • administrative tasks concerning both acute and elective patient pathways
  • tasks in both the clinic and the ward
  • registration and coordination where your administrative overview makes a difference

You will work independently, but you are never alone. We help each other, bounce ideas across and use each other’s different strengths.

Who are you?

You are a trained medical secretary or health administration coordinator – this is a requirement. In addition, we hope that you:

  • have professional pride and a desire to deliver high quality
  • can keep an overview when the pace is high
  • work independently and take responsibility
  • are curious and eager to ask questions and contribute ideas
  • want to be an active part of both the professional and social community
  • have an eye for structure, registration and a good patient journey
  • are open to a workplace where not everything is decided in advance
  • perhaps have experience from cardiology – but the most important for us is your professionalism and your desire to learn

What do you get with us?

You get a meaningful job with development – and heart. You get

  • the opportunity for real influence in a secretariat and a developing department
  • close cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • a strong and supportive colleague community
  • thorough onboarding and a mentor by your side
  • opportunities for development and continuing education – we invest in your professionalism
  • a daily life with room for both professionalism and humor
  • communal breakfast and social events
  • a workplace where integrity, trust and job satisfaction are important values
  • accessible and clear leadership that believes in dialogue, responsibility and a shared direction

Practical

The position is permanent and full-time with start date 1 December 2026 or by agreement.

Working hours on weekdays between 7:00 and 16:00.

Once you have settled in, you will join our weekend rotation with one Sunday shift about every 12 weeks with following weekdays off. In addition, we work a few holidays per year.

When you are well into the tasks, there is the possibility of remote work.

Would you like to join the journey?

We would love to hear from you. We do not promise a department where everything is finished and systematized. On the other hand, we promise a department where you will have the opportunity to help shape it.

About the cardiac medical specialty at Regionshospitalet

Horsens is the main facility for 233,000 residents in the catchment area, which includes the municipalities of Horsens, Hedensted, Skanderborg and Odder.

Cardiology is a small but efficient department with about 85 staff members. We have in Cardiology a large well-functioning Heart Clinic with a long list of outpatient functions and about 11,000 outpatient visits annually.

Acute heart patients are received directly in the Acute Cardiology Clinic during daytime hours, and the rest of the day in the Cardiology Ward. The Acute Cardiology Clinic and Cardiology Ward are side by side, and the ward has 21 telemetry-monitored beds. In May 2026, both the ward and clinic moved to completely new, bright, and spacious premises.

About Regionshospitalet Horsens

Regionshospitalet in Horsens is one of the smaller hospitals in Central Denmark Region, and we think that is one of our strengths. With the hospital’s size, we have a closeness and a sense of community that larger workplaces can struggle to match. It makes daily cooperation smoother because we know each other and know that we have each other’s backs – both when we succeed and when we occasionally make a mistake. Then we learn from it together.

Our vision is "Regionshospitalet Horsens as an attractive workplace, educational and treatment site and collaboration partner" with focus on both staff and patients. Almost 2,000 colleagues wait for you at the hospital. Across departments and specialties we meet each other as people while we each have our own professional profile. This also applies when we welcome new colleagues.

In 2024 we took the first steps to become a ‘Choose Wisely’ Ambassador, where we work across disciplines to identify and avoid unnecessary examinations and treatments – for the sake of both patients and the health service’s overall resources.
