Children and Youth in Aarhus Municipality hire trainees even before start on Grundforløb 2. It gives you as a trainee the opportunity to have a sustenance basis during the entire education to become a pedagogical assistant, and you are guaranteed employment at the main course before you potentially resign from your current position.

In the education you alternate between school and apprenticeship periods. In the school periods you attend SOSU East Jutland in Aarhus N, and in the apprenticeship periods you work in one of Aarhus Municipality's day care centers or after-school programs, where you gain practical experience with the tasks a pedagogical assistant performs.

Admission requirements

To be able to start the foundation course you must meet the formal requirements for the pedagogical assistant education. The requirements vary depending on age and work experience.

Children and Youth in Aarhus Municipality is currently also seeking pedagogical assistant trainees for the EUD main course education with start in January 2027 and trainees for the EUX education with start in February 2027. Employment, training and school

When you become employed as a pedagogical assistant trainee, you enter into an education agreement with a day-care center in Aarhus Municipality. The agreement covers both Grundforløb 2 and the main course. Grundforløb 2 lasts a total of 20 weeks including two weeks of work-based teaching.

On the main course, trainees in apprenticeship will alternate 3 times in a day-care center or SFO. The first apprenticeship period will always be in a day-care center. The training sites are geographically located in different parts of Aarhus Municipality, so you should expect travel time to your apprenticeship site.

In connection with your application you should indicate whether you want an apprenticeship place in Aarhus North, Aarhus Center or Aarhus South.

Salary and terms of employment

The trainee education is covered by the collective agreement for pedagogical assistants and pedagogical assistants.

Salary at the moment

• Trainee salary approx. 13,500 DKK per month
• Adult trainee salary (over 25 years) approx. 26,200 DKK per month

The salary is adjusted continually in accordance with the collective agreement.

Weekly hours: 37

You have 3 months probation. The probation starts the day you begin in the first apprenticeship period.

This is a temporary position from February 9, 2027 until the main course is completed.

The position is at all times conditional upon a satisfactory public criminal record and a clean child data certificate.

When you have opened the recruitment system and follow the application guide, you will be asked to answer a number of questions, and to upload various documents. Including an application, a CV and your residence permit, if you are not a Danish citizen. You also have the option to upload references from other employers or evaluation from company-based training.
