Become a teacher in a strong interdisciplinary special education team

Would you like to make a difference for students with special needs? Tårnbygårdsskolen is the special school of Tårnby Municipality. The students are all affected by complex problems, primarily neurologically based, and in most cases described as children with autism spectrum disorders, children with ADHD, or other pervasive developmental disorders.

Right now we need a teacher for a student group that cognitively is at a lower functional level and has an autism spectrum disorder, as our offering in this area is being expanded to include more students.

As a teacher you will join a team with both teachers and pedagogues, who all work with this student group. You will, together with the team, have the task of creating a school offer for the school's 12 students, who are mainly early elementary students, but where the content of the teaching ranges from preschool to early school. The task will be to plan and implement the school day for the group’s students in an instructional environment characterized by clear visual structure and predictability.

• Have an eye for each child’s zone of proximal development.
• Value parental collaboration highly and see the parents as our most important cooperation partners.

• Have strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Be adaptable and able to work in a busy environment with a good atmosphere.

If you are a newly qualified candidate

In Tårnby Municipality we offer in collaboration with DLF, Section 13, an introductory program for newly qualified teachers and kindergarten leaders. This is done in interaction with your manager, the safety representative and the work environment representative.

The first two years as a newly qualified teacher also include reduced teaching time, and at all schools there is a mentor scheme. We take care to give you a good start to your teaching life.

Salary and employment terms Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the Danish Teachers’ Union after negotiation.

The municipality's employment policy entails that references from previous and current workplaces are collected upon hiring. If you have been employed in Tårnby Municipality, a reference will always be taken from there. In addition, a criminal record check and a child-safety check must be presented upon hiring. Employment will be conditioned on these being satisfactory.
