About the job

Do you want to help create meaningful activities and communities for people with dementia and their relatives, and at the same time contribute to developing new offerings in the area?

Demenscenter Odsherred is looking for an engaged employee with a relevant health-, social- or pedagogical education for our Day and Activity Offer in Vig.

We imagine that you are an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, social- and health assistant, pedagogue or have another relevant education and experience that can be brought into work with people with dementia. You are motivated by creating meaningful activities, relationships and communities and thrive in a daily life close to the citizens. Regardless of your professional background, we expect you to actively use your competencies and translate them into actions that support well-being, participation and quality of life for people with dementia.

Who are we?

Demenscenter Odsherreds Day- and Activity Offer is a service for home-living citizens with dementia. We work every day to create a safe and meaningful offering where citizens experience community, activity, recognizability and joy of life.

The Day and Activity Offer is part of Demenscenter Odsherred, which consists of several specialized services for people with dementia and their relatives. We collaborate closely across professional groups and functions, and we are focused on continuously developing our offerings so that they match the citizens’ needs.

Be part of strengthening and developing the dementia field in Odsherred

Odsherred Municipality is expanding its efforts in the dementia field, and we are looking for employees who want to help shape and develop the offerings of the future. In addition to the daily work in our Day- and Activity Offer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to development and implementation of, among other things, CST programs, motion- and training offers, and other meaningful communal activities for people with dementia and their relatives. We want a colleague who is curious, development-oriented and motivated to translate professional ideas into practice .

The majority of your working hours will be in the “Day and Activity Offer.” Here you will be an important part of a multidisciplinary team that jointly plans and implements the day’s activities while ensuring that each citizen experiences safety, participation and a sense of belonging. It is therefore important to us that you thrive in meeting the citizens and find meaning in creating good days together with them. Work in the “Day and Activity Offer” is largely group-based.

Together with your colleagues, you will help create frameworks where citizens experience participation, community and the opportunity to contribute based on their own resources and prerequisites. An important part of the task is to create a validating environment where each citizen is met with respect, understanding and curiosity. We want the citizens to feel seen, heard and meaningful, and to be part of a community where there is room for both individual needs and shared activities.

You must therefore be able to build relationships and contribute to an atmosphere characterized by safety, presence and positive experiences. This requires you to read group dynamics, adapt activities and support the individual citizen in participating on their own terms. We focus on supporting citizens’ resources and maintaining functional ability as long as possible. Therefore, activities and socializing are never an end in themselves, but a way for us to strengthen well-being, participation and quality of life.

We work with both common activities, smaller groups and individual interventions when it makes sense for the individual citizen. The day is therefore shaped continually based on the people present and the needs they bring with them. There will also be tasks such as support and assistance during toilet visits, arranging and serving meals and other practical tasks that help create a safe and well-functioning day for the citizens.

We help each other across tasks and see all tasks as an important part of the overall effort around the citizens.

We are looking for you who

We imagine that you have a relevant health-, social- or pedagogical education and are interested in or have experience with working with people with dementia. You are good at building relationships and have an eye for each person’s resources, needs and possibilities for participation in the community.

You work independently, take responsibility for your tasks and thrive in a daily life where planned activities go hand in hand with the unforeseen situations that naturally arise in working with people. At the same time you see the value of a strong collegial collaboration and contribute positively to the community, both internally in the team and in collaboration with relatives and other partners.

We are looking for a colleague who can plan, implement and evaluate activities, who can translate their professional knowledge into practice, and who communicates clearly and respectfully with both citizens, relatives and colleagues. In addition, we value reliability, responsibility and engagement highly.

Documentation is a natural part of our daily life. You must therefore have good IT skills and preferably experience with CURA or similar documentation systems.

Why choose us

With us you get a position with daytime hours on weekdays, which provides good opportunities for work-life balance.

You will become part of a specialized field with high professionalism and dedicated colleagues, who together hold extensive experience and knowledge about the dementia field. We emphasize collaboration, sparring and sharing knowledge, and you will experience a workplace where helpfulness and community are a natural part of the culture.

We offer good opportunities for professional development and to influence the development of both existing and new offerings. At the same time you will have a daily life where relationships, well-being and quality of life for people with dementia are at the centre of everything we do.

You will meet approachable and acknowledging leadership, which prioritizes professional development, well-being and co-determination, and which sees employees as the most important resource in working with the citizens.
