Bell consultant wanted - West

The position as bell consultant in the Fyens, Aalborg, Viborg, Aarhus, Ribe and Haderslev dioceses is hereby advertised with a start date of 1 January 2027. The position is fixed-term for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a secondary occupation.

Profile

The bell consultant must have passed a church-music diploma from a Danish conservatory as well as the diploma- bell ringer education or equivalent approved foreign examinations. The person employed in a bell consultant position must not have a financial interest in companies that manufacture, market or repair bells or accessories for bells.

Tasks

The bell consultant's area of expertise concerns matters relating to church bells, including bells in churchyards and carillons for churches. The bell consultant issues, on request, statements in matters relating to the consultant's field. In addition, the bell consultant provides advice and guidance to parish councils and provost committees that request it.

The bell consultant also participates as needed in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we, among other things, visit churches in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project.

During the consultant rounds, the project is discussed with the parish council, and where the bell consultant applies their expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. About 4 consultant rounds are held per year in each diocese.

As a bell consultant you act as an advisor to the ecclesiastical authorities according to the rules in:

It is important to note that as a bell consultant you must not undertake design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed in, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Please note that the Ministry of Health and Ecclesiastical Affairs expects to send revised administrative regulations out for consultation during September 2026. A change in the consultants' areas of expertise is proposed, and the changes will therefore be of significance for upcoming appointments. The ministry expects to adopt the administrative regulations in October–November 2026.

Honorarium

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Advisory cases according to § 8 in Circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the consultants of the Church of Denmark: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Statement cases according to § 7, para. 1, in Circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the consultants of the Church of Denmark: 1,854 DKK per statement.

The remuneration is augmented by holiday pay of 12.5%, while no VAT is to be added.

Rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
