Bell consultant wanted - West

Position as a bell consultant in the Diocese of Funen, Aalborg, Viborg, Aarhus, Ribe and Haderslev is hereby advertised with commencement on 1 January 2027. The position is fixed-term for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a supplementary occupation.

Profile

The bell consultant must have passed a church music diploma from a Danish music conservatory and the diploma-bell-ringer education or equivalent approved foreign examinations. The person hired for a bell consultant position must not have a financial interest in companies that manufacture, trade or repair bells or bell accessories.

Tasks

The bell consultant's area of expertise concerns cases relating to church bells, including bells at churchyards and carillons for churches. The bell consultant shall, upon request, provide statements in matters within the consultant's area of expertise. In addition, the bell consultant provides advice and guidance to parish councils and deanery committees upon request.

The bell consultant also participates as needed in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we visit churches in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project.

During the consultant rounds, the project is discussed with the parish council, and where the bell consultant applies his/her expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. Approximately 4 consultant rounds are held per year in each diocese.

Practical

As a bell consultant you act as an adviser to the church authorities in accordance with the rules in:

It is important to note that as a bell consultant you may not undertake project-design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed in, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Please note that the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs expects to issue revised administrative regulations for consultation during September 2026. A change in the consultants' areas of expertise is anticipated, and the changes will therefore be of significance for upcoming appointments. The ministry expects to adopt the administrative regulations during October–November 2026.

Remuneration

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Consultation cases under § 8 of circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Declarations under § 7, stk. 1, of circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,854 kr.pr per declaration.

The remuneration is supplemented with 12.5% holiday pay, while VAT does not apply.

Rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
