About the job

Do you want to work with the entire data chain – from databases and ETL to analyses and Power BI?

Are you passionate about data and motivated to turn complex problems into concrete insights and solutions? At the Defence Academy, you will have a central role in a small specialized team where you work with both Business Intelligence, analyses, databases and ETL processes. You quickly get responsibility, significant influence on your tasks and the opportunity to develop professionally in the intersection of technology, analysis and business.

About us

At the Defence Academy's Center for Digitisation we work to support leadership, development and decision-making through better use of data.

You will become part of our Data Team, where we work with the entire data chain. We develop both BI and analytics solutions and build the databases and ETL processes that ensure a stable and usable data foundation.

We are a small team where collaboration, knowledge sharing and professional sparring are a natural part of everyday life. At the same time you will have a lot of autonomy and the opportunity to shape both solutions and working methods.

The position

As a BI and data professional you will have a role where you work with both developing the data foundation and using data in analyses and reporting.

Your main tasks will be to

  • Develop BI and analytics solutions in Power BI
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes for collecting and processing data
  • Design and further develop relational databases in SQL
  • Ensure data quality and create a robust basis for analyses and reporting
  • Drive and coordinate smaller development tasks and projects

You will often work on tasks where the problem is known, but the solution must be developed along the way. Therefore you will have the opportunity to think innovatively, challenge existing solutions and contribute to the development of the field.

About you

We imagine that you have a relevant academic education with a strong data-science, mathematical, statistical or technical scientific profile.

You have an interest in both analysis, Business Intelligence and data infrastructure.

It is advantageous if you have experience with

  • Power BI, including data modeling, DAX and visualization
  • SQL and relational databases
  • ETL processes and data processing
  • Statistics, analysis and reporting
  • Programming, for example in Python, PowerShell, VBA and C#

You do not need to know everything from the start. We place just as much emphasis on your curiosity, analytical approach and desire to develop yourself.

How do you work?

We work in an area under development where the technical and organizational frameworks can change with short notice. Priorities, systems and opportunities can change during a task, and this is a basic condition in our work. Therefore it is important that you thrive with changing circumstances and can maintain an overview when assumptions change. You are prepared to rethink your solutions, find new paths and create progress, even when the original plan no longer holds.

We are looking for someone who

  • thinks in a holistic way and can see the connection between data, technical solutions and their use in the organization. You work independently, take responsibility and create progress – even when the frameworks change and you have to find a new way forward.
  • works in an investigative and critical manner, tests your assumptions and dares to try different solutions. When something does not work, you learn from it and adapt your approach rather than relying on all assumptions being in place from the start.
  • can create structure in tasks that develop over time, and you actively contribute to a small team where professional sparring, collaboration and helpfulness are an important part of everyday life.

Employment terms

The employment is in accordance with the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and skills, there is a possibility for negotiation of an allowance. There is a employer-financed pension scheme associated with the position.

The workplace is in Copenhagen.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special conditions. You must be able to secure a security clearance and maintain the clearance throughout your employment.

As an employee you are required to perform duties outside the country, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peace-enforcing, humanitarian and other similar operations.
