Projectionist at Cinemateket, Danish Film Institute

Would you like to create good cinema experiences for audiences in a vibrant cinema house and run a cinema where all film formats can and should be shown? Then we are looking for a skilled cinema operator to service Cinemateket's four cinemas, including our Himmelbio at Filmtaget.

About the position

You will join a team with the current operators, who rotate working in the time from 9:00 to about 24:00 every day of the week. For events, working hours may extend beyond this period.

On duty you will be responsible for the cinemas' film runs, handling of film materials and digital formats as well as setting up technical equipment for special events.

You will be responsible for checking whether the programmed films are prepared, perform test runs and align wishes with customers, etc. In addition you must take care of service and maintenance of equipment and ensure that the public areas and exhibitions are functioning in cooperation with the cinema's other staff, the library and our lessee of the catering areas.

In 2024 Cinemateket expanded with a 1,700 m2 roof terrace, Filmtaget, which houses a film-historical and digital exhibition, an open-air cinema and a café. Filmtaget is open all year and the cinema from spring to autumn. You will be involved in runs in Himmelbio and handle the exhibitions' technology, as well as have audience responsibility at Filmtaget during late hours.

Especially during film festivals and periods with high audience demand you should expect more working hours, which over the year are balanced by periods with less work.

About you

We imagine that

• You are educated as a film operator or have another relevant professional background
• You are service-minded and enjoy giving guests a good experience
• You have knowledge of and interest in film and video art, as well as film culture
• You have extensive knowledge of IT equipment and handling of both digital and analog film formats – including 35 mm film
• You are comfortable with tight deadlines and are willing to work a bit faster in busy periods

Salary and terms of employment

It is a full-time position with day, evening and weekend shifts. Salary and terms of employment are according to the joint agreement between the Ministry of Finance and 3F or other relevant organization as well as the Film Institute's local agreement for operators.

Start date 1 January 2026 or earlier if possible.
