About the job

We have opened new rooms in a completely newly built daycare, and therefore still need a couple of lovely colleagues.

Børnehuset Akeleje opened almost 4 years ago. In June 2026 we moved into our lovely new building. Therefore we are now looking for two more pedagogues to continue and develop the good pedagogical work. One position is in the kindergarten, the other in the nursery.

Whether you are newly graduated or experienced there is room for you in Akeleje’s community if you can see yourself in Akeleje’s practice. Maybe you have a colleague you’ve always dreamed of working more closely with - here is the opportunity!

We are a workplace with high pedagogical ambitions, an informal approach to one another and lots of good laughs and humor in everyday life. We work to create a living together at Akeleje where the child’s voice is the most important and adults are adjustable, responsible and boundary-setting with a focus on the child and the child community.

We are missing a pedagogue in the kindergarten and one in the nursery.

Akeleje’s Pedagogical Practice At Akeleje we are professionally focused on the child’s initiative, the present moment, and creating important childhood memories that form the foundation for the child’s understanding of themselves as an individual and within an important community.

We work from a view of children where children are resourceful and hold meaningful knowledge about themselves. This means that we understand that children need to practice being exactly who they are many times - and that children in many contexts develop internal mastery strategies to a greater extent than external ones. Therefore we must create good pedagogical experiential environments in which the children can try out and develop their mastery strategies.

In the most recent inspection report from Børnehuset Akeleje it stated: ”There is a positive atmosphere throughout the day. The adults’ interest in the children is evident and seen especially in the adults’ recognition of the children’s initiatives and inclusion of the children’s perspectives in play and activities. It is particularly noted that a positive tone toward the children is heard throughout the day.”

What characterizes you? We dream of even more warm-hearted colleagues who, through you and your actions, are decisive for children’s lives in the present and in the future.

Therefore it is important that you

Are committed to giving children the very best living conditions and have behavior that contributes to this.

You know that good pedagogy is a craft that happens in interaction with others. You must therefore dare to put yourself on the line for the benefit of others.

You know the significance of a psychologically safe environment and have behavior that strengthens a safe working environment, such that when disagreements, frustrations and low energy are at stake, we help each other resolve things so that gossip, insecurities and negative dominating narratives do not take hold.

Engagement, view of children and shared responsibility are core values in the workplace. Therefore you should be able to see yourself as a teammate on a team that wants to make a positive difference in the lives of many children in the years to come.

You should want to be in a workplace where we actively work to mobilize psychological safety, so there is room for brave actions where "mistakes" and successes are the starting point for learning and development.

We are a collaborative house across rooms and ages in everyday life and in celebration. It places demands on staff cooperation, organization and presence, and everyone enjoys great joy from this practice. It is the entire foundation for how we believe children thrive, learn and develop, that the adults follow the children’s lead and adjust accordingly.

We thrive in complexity and work to ensure openness, trust, communication and a high degree of psychological safety are prerequisites for our success. Therefore we aim to create flexible workplaces so that employees can thrive as whole people, while we are engaged in carrying out the world’s most important work.

The staff composition is a good mix of gender, age and humor, and there is room for even more in the community.

We have a lot on our hearts that we hope you would like to hear more about, and it is a mantra for us that it should be fun to be a child at Akeleje, but it should also be fun to come to work here.

We are happy to show you around and take time for you, whether you are sure or not about sending your application yet.

For both positions it is current that they are available from 1 December 2026

Preparation time Professionalism and pedagogical quality are essential to succeed with the political ambition of creating strong communities for all children and young people, and it requires time and space for deepening, reflection and collaboration for the pedagogical staff. In Roskilde Municipality it is politically prioritized that all houses are allocated preparation time.

The preparation time should allow staff to work more systematically with the core task, and at the same time create better conditions for professional development, well-being, job satisfaction and strong communities – without compromising the time with children and staffing levels.

As an employee of Roskilde Municipality there are various staff benefits. For example free fitness facilities at the Town Hall, holiday homes, art association and discounts at fitness centers. In addition, ongoing work to create better conditions for pedagogues through, among other things, continuing education, preparation time and flexibility in employment levels and working hours.

Contact information, deadlines and the practical details If you want to know more about the position or visit us, you can call the Pedagogical Leader Tina Emborg Sørensen at tel. 2152 3926.

The application deadline is 20.10 and the interviews will be held in weeks 43-44 during daytime hours

The working hours for both positions are 32-37 hours per week.

Criminal background and child protection checks as well as references will be obtained before employment.
