About Børnehuset Højstensgård

At Højstensgård you will lead a kindergarten with a healthy working community and engaged pedagogical staff. We are a staff group with plenty of competencies and a desire to practice meaningful pedagogy that makes a difference for the children. You will lead a house with good quality, and where much is possible when we lift together. We are looking for a leader who also wants to contribute to and support a collaborative culture where we all contribute to good solutions with the children’s well-being, learning, development and formation in focus.

Børnehuset Højstensgård is normed for 44 kindergarten children and 22 toddlers and is housed in an old three-winged farmstead that has been converted into a day-care institution. One wing is furnished for toddlers, another for kindergarten, and in the main building the kitchen and multipurpose room are located. The institution is well-located close to Brøndbyskoven and has 2 lovely playgrounds surrounded by trees. On the playground we have created a fire area, which we use in connection with pedagogical activities.

In the toddler section there are 11 children in each room, and in the kindergarten there are 22 children in each room. In daily practice we work primarily with a floor-based division, but we also work across rooms for various projects in the kindergarten and in the toddler section, and children can play across rooms.

We see the children as competent, equal, resourceful and active participants in their daily life. Learning, democracy and formation take place in relationships and arise through the child’s active participation in play, planned activities, and in the friendships and communities the child moves in. We plan learning environments that support the child’s development, based on the needs and interests of the child groups, as we take responsibility for the child’s learning and for the child’s pedagogical everyday life.

Through play, planned and spontaneous activities, through friendships and communities, co-learning takes place, and the child acquires knowledge about themselves and their world in these learning processes.

In the board work and at parent events there is good collaboration and strong support from the parents. We seek a leader who can listen to both parents and staff to create a common direction and the best possible day care offering for the children.

About the position

As a day care leader you will undertake the daily management of Børnehuset Højstensgård and report directly to the day care manager of the administration, as Brøndby Kommune does not have area/cluster management, since the focus is on maintaining a flat management structure in the municipality.

You will become part of Brøndby Municipality’s common day-care area – including an engaged day-care leader group, and a leadership team with 6 day-care leader colleagues, where you discuss development and implementation of various initiatives such as projects and training, as well as provide professional sparring to each other.

In your daily work you must ensure continued development of the quality of the pedagogical work. We expect you to plan and facilitate development processes, as well as set direction and create followership to the development of Højstensgård. You will be required to set direction for and support the pedagogical practice and continue the good work of translating the strengthened pedagogical learning plan from paper to practice.

You

• Have an educational background in pedagogy and a leadership qualification. If you do not have a leadership qualification, we expect you to be willing to pursue a diploma in leadership.
• Have experience leading day-care and are familiar with the day-care area.
• Master the balance between being development-oriented, asking curious and open questions, setting direction, making decisions, but also giving space to new ideas and the practice that already works.
• Can achieve results through job satisfaction and engagement.
• Create structure and overview in the house regarding roles, tasks and distribution of responsibilities in daily life.
• Can through trust-based leadership draw the outer framework with room for staff to contribute to daily life.
• Understand and thrive in working in a politically governed organization and are skilled at implementing and translating political decisions and, among other things, continue the work of translating the strengthened pedagogical learning plan into practice.
• Collaborate with and involve parents at the right time and place and see them as a resource and important partner.
• Master involving relevant interdisciplinary partners in task solving.
• Have strong professional knowledge regarding children's development, and you also enjoy being on the floor where you show flair for professional sparring with the staff.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is 37 hours. We would like you to be able to start on December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The day-care services are organizationally placed in the Department of Children, Culture and Sports. Salary and terms of employment according to applicable collective agreement. Brøndby Municipality has a smoke-free working time.
