About Børnehuset Højstensgård

In Højstensgård you will lead a Children’s House with a healthy work community and engaged pedagogical staff. We are a staff group with lots of competencies and a desire to practice meaningful pedagogy that makes a difference for the children. You will lead a house with good quality, and where a lot is possible when we lift together. We are seeking a leader who also wants to contribute to and support a collaborative culture where we all contribute to good solutions focused on the children’s well-being, learning, development, and formation.

Børnehuset Højstensgård is normed for 44 kindergarten children and 22 toddlers and is located in an old three-bay farm that has been converted into a day care center. One wing is arranged for the toddler group, another wing for the kindergarten, and the main building houses the kitchen and the activity room. The institution is well located close to Brøndbyskoven and has two lovely playgrounds surrounded by trees. On the playground we have created a fire area that we use in connection with pedagogical activities.

In the toddler group there are 11 children on each room, and in the kindergarten there are 22 children on each room. In daily work we as a rule work in room groups, but we also work across groups for various projects in the kindergarten and the toddler group, and children can play across rooms.

We see the children as competent, equal, resourceful, and active players in their everyday lives. Learning, democracy, and formation take place in relationships and arise through the child’s active participation in play, planned activities, and in the friendships and communities the child moves in. We plan learning environments that support the child’s development, based on the needs and interests of the child groups, taking responsibility for the child’s learning and for the child’s pedagogical everyday life.

Through play, planned and spontaneous activities, through friendships and communities, co-learning occurs, and the child acquires knowledge about themselves and their world in these learning processes.

In the board work and at parent events there is good collaboration and strong support from the parents. We are seeking a leader who can listen to both parents and staff to create a common direction and the best possible day-care provision for the children.

About the position

As a day-care manager you will be responsible for the daily management of Børnehuset Højstensgård and report directly to the municipality’s day-care chief, as Brøndby Municipality does not have area/cluster management, as there is a focus on preserving a flat structure in the municipal leadership.

You will become part of Brøndy Municipality’s common day-care area – including an engaged day-care leadership group, and a leadership team with 6 day-care leader colleagues, where you discuss development and implementation of various initiatives such as projects and education as well as provide professional sparring to each other.

In your daily work you must ensure continued development of the quality of the pedagogical work. We expect you to be able to plan and facilitate development processes, set direction and create adherence to the development of Højstensgård. You will need to set a direction for and support the pedagogical practice and continue the good work of translating the strengthened pedagogical curriculum from paper to practice.

You

• Have a pedagogical education and a leadership education. If you do not have a leadership education, we expect you to be willing to study aDiploma in Leadership (diplomuddannelse i ledelse).
• Have experience leading daycare and know the day-care sector.
• Master the balance between acting development-oriented, asking curious and open questions, setting direction, making decisions, but also giving room for new ideas and practices that already work.
• Can create results through job satisfaction and engagement.
• Create structure and overview in the house in relation to roles, tasks and distribution of responsibilities in daily life.
• Can, through trust-based leadership, draw the outer framework with room for staff to contribute to daily life.
• Understands and thrives in working in a politically governed organization and is skilled at implementing and translating political decisions and including continuing the work with translating the strengthened pedagogical curriculum into practice.
• Collaborates with and involves parents at the right time and place and sees them as a resource and important partner.
• Masters involving relevant cross-disciplinary partners in task solving.
• Has strong professional knowledge regarding children's development, and you also enjoy being on the floor, where you show flair for professional sparring with staff.

Salary and employment terms

The position is 37 hours. We would like you to be able to start on December 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The day-care centers are organizationally placed in the Department of Children, Culture and Sports. Salary and terms of employment according to applicable collective agreement. In Brøndby Municipality there is a smoke-free working time.
