Children's culture mediator with a big heart for children and children's literature

At Brøndby Cultural Houses and Libraries we take children and their reading seriously, and we do our best every day to communicate literature and the library's offerings in a lively, educational and inclusive way.

We are looking for you who are passionate about outreach to the 0-6 year olds and their adults. You have knowledge of the initiatives that the libraries nationwide have developed in the preschool area, and you can translate knowledge and experience into relevant and exciting offerings for children in Brøndby Municipality.

What will you do?

You will become part of Team Children and Families, which works with outreach and offerings to children and young people aged 0-16. There will be 8 colleagues in the team, each contributing with their focus area and professional expertise to achieve our common goal.

You will be responsible for developing, planning and implementing activities and collaborating with day care facilities. It is a collaboration that must be cultivated and developed. In addition, together with two colleagues you will work focused on our youngest target group, so even more children get exciting and relevant encounters with literature.

One of your tasks will be to work on the development project Reading Culture in Change, where we have contributed to #Spor 2: Family and Leisure with a focus on movement.

In addition, your primary tasks will be to

• Create activities and outreach for 0-6-year-olds that support the work with reading enthusiasm and reading culture
• Develop projects with a view to relevant development grants, including contributing to the application process and planning
• Be host in our library loans and at activities
• Develop offerings with a focus on learning and communities for children and their families in leisure and holiday periods together with our children’s events team

Our wish is that the position will strengthen our collaboration with the day care sector and other relevant partners with a particular focus on developing strong and sustainable offerings with high volume.

A little about you

We would prefer not to set formal requirements on who you are - the most important is that you are passionate about children, reading and culture and have experience in the field.

We would be very happy if you can bridge between professional groups and see opportunities in collaboration. You may indeed be passionate in your outreach to children and have a head full of good ideas about how we put our collection into play and get even more children to read and be part of meaningful communities.

It would be an advantage if you have experience with binding cross-organizational collaboration, e.g., collaboration with municipal administration, external cultural actors or similar. It is also advantageous to have experience with or knowledge of project and process management.

You should have a relevant educational background such as librarian, cand.scient.bibl., cand.mag or equivalent.

Brøndby Cultural Houses and Libraries are Kulturhuset Brønden in Brøndby Strand, Kulturhuset Kilden in Brøndbyøster and Brøndby Libraries, which are located together with the two culture houses as well as a smaller library in Brøndbyvester.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms will be according to the current collective agreement and qualifications.

The job is full-time with flexible working hours.

There will be evening and weekend work in connection with the execution of events and activities.

There is a loan shift every 3rd-4th Saturday and Sunday opening in the winter months.
