About the job

You have a rare opportunity to shape a department in startup, where your voice and experience truly make a difference.

Get the opportunity to be involved from the start, where routines, culture and professionalism still need to be shaped, and where you yourself help set the direction. On 8 April 2026, the Psychiatric Ward 5 in Viborg opened its doors to the first patients, and we are still in the process of building the ward.

We are looking for engaged nurses who want to be part of a newly established ward with professional depth, real influence and a strong collegial community.

The ward is a general psychiatric inpatient ward with 16 beds and a subspecialty in geriatric psychiatry. Caring, structure and relationship work are central elements in daily life, and you will be part of an interdisciplinary team where we help each other, learn together and support each other in difficult situations. With us, we work with the heart and with the head, and we always strive to see the person behind the illness.

Your daily life with us

As a nurse on the ward you will provide care and nursing based on the individual patient's needs and resources. This can range from personal hygiene and meals to helping create structure in daily life through activities and sleep rhythm. You actively work with prevention and conflict management, with a focus on creating calm and safety and avoiding coercion, and you are a central part of the rehabilitative work, where patients are supported to regain skills and believe in themselves.

In addition, you observe and document the patients' condition and development, and you work closely with colleagues, relatives and other professional groups to create coherence in the trajectories.

What you will get with us?

You will receive thorough introduction with a fixed mentor, so you get off to a good start, and you will become part of a ward where you truly help shape culture and working procedures rather than merely performing them. You will become part of a collegiate community where we help each other and celebrate successes together, and you will have the opportunity to practice psychiatric nursing, among other things, according to the principles of Fundamentals of Care.

Learning and professional development are a natural part of everyday life with us, and you have the opportunity to pursue a specialized training in psychiatric nursing. You will also have two chief nurses who are engaged, visible and close to daily work.

We imagine that you

  • Are a newly graduated or experienced nurse
  • Have an interest or experience in psychiatry, preferably geriatric psychiatry
  • Thrive in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Are engaged and curious and eager to help build something new
