About the job

You have a rare opportunity to make your mark on a department in startup, where your voice and experience truly make a difference.

Get the chance to be involved from the start, where routines, culture and professionality still need to be shaped, and where you yourself help set the direction. On April 8, 2026, Psychiatric Ward 5 in Viborg opened its doors to the first patients, and we are still in the midst of building the ward.

We are looking for engaged nurses who want to be part of a newly established ward with professional immersion, real influence and a strong collegial community.

The ward is a general psychiatric inpatient ward with 16 beds and a subspecialty in geriatric psychiatry. Care, structure and relational work are central elements in daily life, and you will become part of a multidisciplinary team where we help each other, learn together and support each other in difficult situations. With us, we work with heart and head, and we always strive to see the person behind the illness.

Your everyday life with us

As a nurse on the ward you will provide care and nursing based on the individual patient's needs and resources. This can range from personal hygiene and meals to helping create structure in daily life through activities and sleep rhythm. You actively work on prevention and conflict management, with a focus on creating calm and security and avoiding coercion, and you are a central part of the rehabilitative work, where patients are supported in regaining skills and believing in themselves.

In addition, you observe and document patients' condition and development, and you collaborate closely with colleagues, relatives and other professionals to create coherence in the pathways.

What do you get with us?

You will receive a thorough introduction with a fixed mentor, so you start well, and you become part of a ward where you truly help shape culture and workflows rather than just perform them. You will become part of a collegial community where we help each other and celebrate successes together, and you will have the opportunity to practice psychiatric nursing, among other things according to the principles of Fundamentals of Care.

Learning and professional development are a natural part of everyday life with us, and you have the opportunity to pursue a specialized education in psychiatric nursing. You will also have two senior nurses who are engaged, visible and close to the daily work.

We imagine that you

  • Are a newly graduated or experienced nurse
  • Have interest or experience in psychiatry, preferably geriatric psychiatry
  • Thrive in multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Are engaged and curious and want to help build something new
