About the job

Are you passionate about government work, and would you like to make a difference in Copenhagen?

Do you have strong communication skills, and can you convey technical material in an easily understandable way both in writing and verbally?

Then you might be our new colleague in Building Case Closure – part of the Building Department (OBY) under the Building, Parking and Environment Authority (BPM).

About us

We are responsible for the final building case processing of all Copenhagen building cases – large and small. We check that the work is carried out in accordance with building permits and current legislation, just as we manage the supervision role and help ensure that illegal building is brought into order.

The job – your tasks

With us you will be part of a team responsible for a diverse case portfolio within both large and smaller building cases. Your daily life will consist of

  • advise private citizens and professional advisors on the closure of their building cases e.g. new construction, alterations and extensions, balconies, single-family houses as well as commercial and residential construction
  • review final declarations and issue both occupancy permits and temporary occupancy permits so that buildings can be safely and legally put into use
  • process complaints about illegal conditions, including fire hazards and health hazards as well as other conditions requiring formal legalization
  • perform sampling controls, where you perform technical case processing and assess whether the construction meets legislation and permits
  • participate in customer center shifts, where you guide citizens about their building cases and the law.

In some cases the tasks will involve inspections out in the city. You will therefore have the opportunity to use your professional expertise both in the office and in the field – and to collaborate closely with colleagues and partners across the administration.

You will receive thorough training from both your team and other colleagues, so you are well prepared for the tasks and the systems we work with.

Who are you?

We are looking for you who

  • have a relevant professional background, e.g. as a building constructor, engineer, architect or similar
  • communicate clearly and in a friendly manner – both in writing and verbally
  • have the desire to make complex professional material understandable for both citizens and professionals
  • work in a structured way, take responsibility and can switch between different types of tasks
  • are solution-oriented, have situational awareness and can balance dialogue and enforcement
  • are engaged, change-ready and a team player who contributes to a good atmosphere and helps when needed.

Knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Act and Planning Act is an advantage, but not a requirement.

We offer

  • a busy and attractive workplace with flexible working hours and the possibility of remote work
  • an informal and strong professional environment with skilled colleagues and sparring across
  • collaboration with both internal and external actors to create the best Copenhagen
  • opportunity for personal and professional development and great insight into building legislation and government work
  • 37-hour work week including a flex-time arrangement.

Salary and employment terms

We wish to fill the position as soon as possible, but no later than 1 January 2027. Working hours are on average 37 hours per week. Salary and employment terms are according to the applicable collective agreement. Depending on your qualifications, allowances can be negotiated in collaboration with the trade union within the framework of local pay formation. We also offer an attractive pension scheme.
