Calm 1:1 companionship with a woman with autism

Do you have a calm approach and do you thrive in an interaction where the pace is slow and the relationship is at the center? Then this could be a task for you.

About the task

You will be a steady support for a 28-year-old woman who has infantil autism, ADHD and epilepsy. She does not have a real spoken language, but occasionally uses a few words. She enjoys cooking, listening to music and doing puzzles.

She becomes tired quickly and needs calm surroundings with limited stimuli. Your task is therefore primarily to be present and follow her pace and needs. You can do calm activities based on her interests, and at other times the interaction is simply about you being there, while she engages in something she enjoys.

You also support her with small reminders in everyday routines, e.g., to drink, go to the toilet and remember handwashing. Personal care is not part of the task.

Because she has epilepsy, you must be able to stay calm and follow the relevant guidelines in the event of a seizure. If a seizure lasts more than two minutes, call 112.

About you

You can be a trained pedagogue or unskilled with relevant experience. It is an advantage if you have knowledge of autism, ADHD or epilepsy.

The most important thing is that you can work calmly and independently and thrive in an interaction where you do not need to start many activities. You are attentive to her signals and can invite to activities without pressuring, so the interaction proceeds at a pace that suits her.

Working hours

The position is 6 hours per week, spread over three fixed shifts

Tuesday 15:00–17:00

Thursday 15:00–17:00

Friday 15:00–17:00

The work takes place in the client's home.
