About the job

Do you want to lead a complex guest operation where hospitality, accommodation and experiences go hand in hand – and at the same time help develop the way we run Knuthenborg in the future?

At Knuthenborg our guests encounter animals, nature, overnight stays, food and hospitality at one destination. This places particular requirements on our operations – and at the same time provides great opportunities to develop both the guest experience and our business.

We are seeking a Camp Manager who can combine visible leadership and safe operations with development, business understanding and digitalization.

As Camp Manager you will have overall responsibility for the gate, guest services, shop, house-keeping and evening hosts. You will also be responsible for developing our camp rental as well as social events, conferences and arrangements in close collaboration with our F&B Manager.

A central leadership role close to operations

You will be the leader of two team leaders. One is responsible for recruitment and scheduling of seasonal staff in the gate, guest services and among the evening hosts. The other leads housekeeping.

Collectively, your area includes four permanent employees and around 50-60 seasonal employees during the opening season.

The role spans a wide range, and no two days are the same. One day you will work on staffing, budgets or development projects, the next with purchasing, guest experiences or concrete challenges in operations. You will also actively participate in collaboration with the rest of the management team.

We have employees from different nationalities and many international guests. Therefore, it is important that you can communicate securely in both Danish and English.

Your key tasks

You will be responsible for staff, operations, finances and development within your area. This means, among other things, that you shall:

  • lead, spar with and follow up on, together with your two team leaders
  • be a visible leader and participate in operations yourself when needed
  • ensure the right staffing and planning all seven days of the week through the park’s seasons
  • have responsibility for budget, payroll, turnover, staffing and procurement within your areas
  • systematically work on the guest experience and high guest satisfaction
  • drive development projects and digitalization – particularly around the gate and guests’ arrival
  • develop the business within camp rental, social events, conferences and arrangements
  • create structure, ensure follow-up and maintain stable operations throughout the season.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have leadership experience and thrive with the responsibility for a complex operation where pace changes and days rarely resemble each other.

You preferably have experience from hospitality, experience industry, events or other operations management. Your concrete background is less important than your ability to create structure, prioritise and get people and operations to work together – even when it is busy.

As a leader you are visible, structured and pragmatic. You listen, communicate clearly and contribute actively to a good tone and a positive working environment. You can create followership and motivate others, but you are also comfortable making decisions and being consistent when the situation requires it.

You don’t need to be a specialist in technology or digitalization. Instead, we expect you to be curious about how technology, data and new ways of working can make our operations easier, smarter and better for both guests and employees.

An workplace with both operations and development

Knuthenborg is a seasonal workplace. Our camps are rented out for most of the year, the park is open on weekends in parts of autumn, and from the week before Easter until week 42 it is open every day of the week.

This means that the workload varies throughout the year. Together with your team leaders, you will be responsible for ensuring that operations function seven days a week, and you should therefore expect weekend work, coordinated within the management team.

The position is full-time. In peak season from approximately 21 June to 20 August you should expect periods of high activity, more working hours and a high presence in operations. In return, the seasonal fluctuations also provide opportunities to work more focused on development, planning and improvements in the quieter periods of the year.

With us you work with trust under responsibility, and professionalism, integrity and friendliness are shared values in our daily work.

You will have a role with great influence and real opportunity to make your mark on your area – from daily operations and staff members’ everyday life to the guest experience and the development of new business opportunities.

You report to the CEO and become part of Knuthenborg’s leadership team.
