Care Assistant for Maternity Leave Replacement at Kastanjehuset Daycare

About the job Kastanjehuset is an activity and social interaction offering, our target group is adult citizens with significant physical and mental impairment and multiple disabilities, as well as communicative and sensory integration challenges, who can profit from and participate in social interaction with like-minded individuals.

We are looking for a maternity leave cover for our group that works with citizens who need special structure in everyday life. In the group there are 8 citizens, 4 of whom have support hours that require special activities in daily life. There is a crew that goes into the forest every morning, and other activities include sensory-motor training, music, bus trips and social interaction.

In the effort regarding the citizen's social skills we work to strengthen the citizen's relationships and social interaction. We support, among other things, by pairing citizens where we have observed a possibility to build a relationship. We do this, for example, by giving them tasks together, so we develop and support relationships.

We work with several common activities across the house, music, communal singing, creative workshops, celebration of special days and much more. We continuously assess, based on the individual citizen's needs and interests, how the citizen participates and how much.

The starting point is that everyone can participate in different ways, either as active participants or from a distance.

In the effort regarding the citizen's sensory-motor training there will be, through physical and sensory-stimulating activities, work on the nervous system's processing of stimuli to increase the individual citizen's well-being. The activities are based on the citizens' current skills and needs.

We do this, for example, through walks, bike rides, ball games, stairs, relaxation and sensory-motor training.

In collaboration with the citizen, we use an appreciative approach based on the neuro-pedagogical framework to compensate for limitations, as well as utilize and develop the citizen's resources. We use total communication to ensure the citizen's participation and self-determination. We start from the sensory system and the sensory-motor work that influences well-being, emotions, motivation and behavior.

The goal of the effort is that the citizens feel seen, heard and understood. We have focus on the citizen's wishes, needs and self-determination and the effort is based on the following two main goals, which appear in the citizen's pedagogical plan:

• Development and maintenance of social skills through activities
• Development and maintenance through sensory-motor training

Employment terms The positions are an 8-month maternity leave cover with 37 hours per week, starting as soon as possible or no later than December 1, 2026.

Working hours vary from 8:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday. Every fourth Wednesday a joint meeting from 15:30 to 18:00.

Salary and employment terms are according to the applicable collective agreement, as well as the principles of Ny løn (New Pay).

About us Kastanjehuset is a § 104 offering, with 53 full-day places for adult citizens with multiple handicaps.

Kastanjehuset is located in the scenic Ebberød area in Birkerød, almost in the middle of Rude Forest.

Our 24 employees are social educators, pedagogical assistants, care assistants, and a health care assistant, all focused on the citizen being at the center.

The house is divided into 5 smaller teams with their respective distribution of citizens and staff.
