About the job
Care Pathway Coordinator for Cancer Packages
If you have an eye for a good patient pathway, are engaged, service-minded, responsible and positive – and you can see yourself with new professional challenges at the Department of Kidney and Urinary Tract Surgery, then you may be our new colleague.
About the position
We are seeking a competent and stable health administrative employee whose primary task is to ensure coordination of cohesive pathways for suspected and verified cancer cases in the urological specialty. This is a permanent 37 h/week position with no on-call duties, starting 01.12.2026 or as soon as possible. As a care pathway coordinator you help patients and their relatives navigate pathways that are often complex.
The Department of Kidney and Urinary Tract Surgery is the only special department in the North Jutland Region that handles all forms of diagnostic work and treatment of urological cancer. There are care packages for a total of five urological cancer forms.
The diagnostics are carried out in close cooperation with Regionshospitalet and Sygehus Thy-Mors.
Your tasks
The position includes among other things tasks in the form of
- Coordination and quality assurance of cancer care pathways
- Overall facilitator for the individual patient's care pathway
- Phone contact with patients and relatives
- Ensuring good and appropriate planning and booking of effective cancer care pathways
- Responsible for optimal use of outpatient cancer appointment times
- Preparation, participation and follow-up at MDT conferences
- Close collaboration with the departmental management and the pathway managers to ensure target fulfillment of the maximum waiting times, diagnostic and treatment rights

- Communication of information to the management system in case of any overruns of cancer care pathways and maximum waiting times
- Advising, teaching and dissemination about cancer care pathways to internal and external colleagues and partners
- Updating cross-disciplinary instructions on procedures related to cancer care pathways
- Participation in development and research projects within the cancer field in collaboration with relevant professional groups
You must also be up to date with the Health Authority's guidelines concerning cancer care pathways and serve as a consultant and resource for urological patients in cancer care pathways who belong to Thisted’s catchment area.
We expect that our new colleague
- Has a health administrative education and is passionate about pathway coordination
- Has interest in and experience with the diagnostic and treatment pathways for cancer patients

- Drives and supports good collaboration both within and across disciplines
- Is good at communicating in writing and verbally and masters patient-centered communication
- Will actively engage in the development of patient pathways
- Is open, flexible and has a positive attitude to change processes
- Is development-oriented and ready for professional and personal development

The complexity of the task requires insight into the urological specialty as well as the department's patient pathways. We value flexibility and openness to both daily routine tasks and new tasks – and a quality-conscious, positive and smooth approach to work.
Your new team and working environment
You will become part of a multidisciplinary team of three care pathway coordinators, consisting of two health administrative staff and a nurse. In addition, you will be part of the joint secretariat, which consists of 17 dedicated medical secretaries, SAK students and the health administrative chief.
In the secretariat we meet each other with respect, integrity and curiosity, we speak openly and constructively, and we learn from each other and invest in skills development.
