About the job

Would you like to help support the work of preventing and countering threats to Denmark and Danish interests? If you have a sharp pen and a passion for ministerial support, we offer meaningful tasks for the benefit of the Realm's security – and not least good colleagues.

About us

Europe and Denmark are in a heightened security policy situation, and the Danish defence is undergoing a comprehensive strategic transformation, including a historic strengthening. Security for Denmark and Danes in an increasingly complex threat landscape means there is a need to accelerate the building of the Defence's combat power, procure materiel for large multi-billion sums, strengthen international alliances – not least NATO – and strengthen the defence in the Arctic and the North Atlantic.

The Intelligence Agency is part of the Operations Department, which among other things is responsible for international and national operations and the intelligence domain. The office is the agency for the Danish Defence Intelligence Service, which is Denmark's foreign and military intelligence service. We handle cases related to intelligence and threat assessments, security-political briefings, the government's Security Committee and the Committee on Intelligence Services. The office's areas of responsibility include cyber, hybrid threats and space-related matters.

About the position

You will experience an exciting and meaningful everyday life in a dynamic environment with great political and managerial attention. The tasks are varied in time, scope and content. You will experience periods of busyness where there will be a need for you to be available outside normal working hours. Since many cases contain highly classified information that requires physical presence, the possibility for remote work is very limited.

Your tasks will depend on your competencies and background, but may include

  • Classic civil service tasks, including committee responses, parliamentary questions (§ 20 questions) and preparation of case files.
  • Assuming the responsibility for briefings on concrete threats and intelligence.
  • Responsible for advocacy on relevant areas in NATO and the EU.
  • Ensure coordination and prioritisation of cases with other security ministries, etc.
  • Strategic development projects, current political issues and press responses.

We place emphasis on an inclusive and social working environment in the office. We have an informal tone and a good culture of helping and sparring with each other.

About you

Both experienced and newly graduated candidates can be considered. It is an advantage to have experience from a politically governed organization, preferably a ministry. For the experienced candidate we also see it as a strength if you have previously dealt with security policy, the intelligence area, cyber and/or defence. You may also have a military professional background combined with relevant experience.

To succeed in the role, it is crucial that you take independent responsibility within your own case area and are able to communicate complex professional content in a simple and easy-to-understand way in writing and speaking in both Danish and English. You have a well-developed political sense, are initiative-taking, collaborative and bring your knowledge and skills into play. Foresight, resilience and the ability to maintain overview of complex cases are important qualities.

You take responsibility for your tasks and think long-term – for the benefit of Denmark's security.

Terms of employment

If you apply for the civilian position, you must be a trained academic and will be employed and remunerated according to the currently applicable academic agreement between the Ministry of Finance and academics in the state. In addition, depending on qualifications, there will be opportunities to negotiate allowances. There is an employer-funded pension scheme of 18.07% associated with the position.

If you apply for the officer position, the position is filled according to the protocol to the agreement for academics in the state on officers under the Ministry of Defence. The position is placed in salary grade 5, which includes majors and counter admirals.

If you are already employed in the Ministry of Defence's Organization, you will continue to be employed under the applicable agreements between the Ministry of Defence's People Directorate and the Danish Officers’ Association on the pay and employment terms for civil servant employees or unionised officers in the Defence.

As an employee in the Ministry of Defence's organization you are covered by certain special terms. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment process. In this position you must be able to be cleared to TOP SECRET.

If you want to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact Deputy Head Morten Mosegaard Schiellerup Bager at tel.: 4033 4779.
