About the job

We are looking for an experienced and unifying center director who can lead the continued development of one of Denmark's most specialized psychiatric centres. As center director you will be responsible for ensuring direction, cohesion and development across the centre's complex professional environments.

You will drive the ongoing organizational and cultural development of the centre and create clear frameworks for high professional quality, a good working environment, cross-cutting collaboration and good leadership, where a holistic view, integrity, professionalism, trust and openness are essential guiding principles.

Psykiatrisk Center Sct. Hans

Psykiatrisk Center Sct. Hans handles tasks within specialized forensic psychiatry at regional level as well as specialized integrated dual-diagnosis treatment for patients with concurrent mental disorder and substance misuse. Both areas have strong political focus and media attention and constitute complex professional treatment tasks, where many considerations must be taken into account in planning the treatment assignment.

In addition to specialized assessment, treatment and care, the centre also educates health professionals and conducts research within the centre's special functions. The centre is in an important development phase, where there is a need to create greater organizational cohesion, support a common professional direction and further develop the organizational culture.

Both education and research activities are important and highly prioritized functions at Psykiatrisk Center Sct. Hans, which educates health professionals at a qualified professional level and has significant research activities within the centre's special functions. The centre also houses the Competence Centre for Forensic Psychiatry. There is an ambition to strengthen the research.

THE TASK

As center director you will have overall responsibility for setting direction for and further developing Psykiatrisk Center Sct. Hans as a specialized centre within forensic psychiatry and integrated dual-diagnosis treatment. You will translate national and regional ambitions into local development and ensure that the centre continues to deliver high-quality treatment, research and education, while ensuring that skilled staff can still be affiliated with and recruited.

You will lead the continued development of the centre in a period characterized by major changes, including the integration of psychiatry and somatics and the establishment of Region East Denmark.

An important task will be to strengthen coherence across the organization and bring the centre together around a common direction, culture and core mission with a focus on professionalism and good patient care. You will support the development of a strong leadership community with shared responsibility for the centre's overall results and create the best conditions for collaboration across professional environments, organizational units and management levels.

As center director you must ensure safe and well-functioning operations, responsible financial management, clear structures and roles, and a professional interaction between clinic and administration. You must also contribute to creating organizational calm, a good working environment and a culture characterized by trust, openness, integrity, professionalism and a holistic view. Part of the task will be to continue and anchor implemented actions in the working environment area.

You will become a central partner for the hospital's management and must strengthen the centre's relations with municipalities, other psychiatric centres, somatic hospitals, police, correctional services, courts and other stakeholders around patients' pathways.

Candidate

We are seeking an experienced and unifying leader who can achieve results through other leaders and safely navigate the crossfire between strategy, operations, professional development and organizational culture. You are motivated by large societal tasks and can set clear direction, create followers and maintain focus on long-term goals, even when dilemmas or strong interests are at stake.

You have solid experience with leadership of leaders and with complex hospital operations. You have documented results in organizational development, cultural change, financial control and strategic leadership and understand how to balance development with safe operations.

We expect you to have a relevant academic and/or health-professional education and relevant leadership training.

As a person you are clear, robust and decisive. You keep calm and exercise judgment in complex situations and can handle cross-pressure and make difficult decisions when necessary. At the same time you are proper, listening, curious and inclusive and build trust through hands-on leadership, transparent communication and respect for different perspectives.

You are strong on relationships and can bring people together around a common direction. You have an eye for both the organization's overall interests and local perspectives, and you can develop leaders, strengthen cross-collaboration and create an open culture where learning, quality and joint responsibility go hand in hand. At the same time you can navigate safely in cooperation with hospital management, municipalities, authorities and other external partners.

Experience with psychiatry, forensic psychiatry or dual-diagnosis is an advantage. The most important, however, is your leadership expertise, your understanding of complex hospital operations and your ability to develop and unite an organization around a common ambition to provide the best possible services to patients.

Application and employment conditions

If you are motivated by the opportunity to combine social responsibility, strategic leadership and organizational development and leave a lasting mark on the development of treatment, research and leadership to benefit some of society's most complex patients, we look forward to hearing from you.

Submit a motivated application and CV no later than 19 October 2026.

Salary and employment terms follow the agreement for managers with salary placement as other administrative managers.

Interviews are planned for the afternoon of 11 November 2026, and a second interview on the morning of 20 November 2026. Candidates progressing to the second interview will be asked to complete personality tests in the period 12–17 November 2026.
