About the job
Energinet plays a critical role in Danish society by pursuing three interlinked goals: to ensure energy supply and energy sovereignty, enable the green transition, and increase Danish competitiveness through energy at competitive prices and with high reliability of supply.
Ahead of Energinet's substantial development
Energinet is seeking a chief executive officer who will set the direction for Energinet in a critical and rapidly changing period, particularly with regard to power transmission capacity and electrification. Demand for capacity is growing rapidly as a result of electrification and renewable energy production, and the scale and pace of demand have exposed significant challenges in planning, execution and customer delivery.
A major effort from Energinet is required to substantially expand the electricity system and make maximum use of existing capacity. This requires not only new technical, market-oriented and digital solutions but also a much closer collaboration with customers, authorities and other stakeholders. At the same time, Energinet must build a future hydrogen infrastructure in Denmark and develop an increasingly greener gas system.
The role of chief executive officer thus constitutes one of the most significant leadership tasks in Denmark, with a direct impact on competitiveness, energy security of supply, industrial growth and the pace of the green transition.
Together with the rest of the management team, you will create a clear path to better execution and increase trust among customers and stakeholders in Energinet’s ability to solve its tasks. This requires combining a strategic perspective with operational proximity and staying close to critical projects and decisions, while giving leaders a mandate and holding the organization accountable for results. Finally, a close and constructive collaboration with key stakeholders must be established.
Achieve results through clear leadership and close collaboration
Energinet is seeking an experienced senior executive who has served as CEO or at a C-level in large companies, preferably with experience from large CAPEX projects. A customer-focused mindset is essential, and you should have a strong business understanding, but not necessarily from the energy sector. And you must be capable of driving large transformation processes and raising performance and execution power in a context of high operational, financial and regulatory complexity.
We are therefore looking for a profile that particularly possesses the following leadership competencies:
- Form strategy and drive change: Define the necessary transformation for Energinet and translate it into clear choices, priorities and changes in operations.
- Deliver results: Establish clear priorities, make explicit trade-offs and set realistic commitments across projects and operations. Demonstrate clear leadership when sets of setbacks, resistance and heightened attention arise, and maintain momentum without losing pace.
- Create a shared direction through collaboration: Build trust and productive alliances among customers, industry players, authorities, employees and international partners. Adopt a true customer perspective, listen to external needs and translate them into priorities and solutions.
- Lead teams: Lead the executive team around a common purpose and collective responsibility. Break down silos, simplify decisions and empower leaders while ensuring clear follow-up, and raise expectations for tempo, customer results and performance.
- Create change: Lead with perseverance and determination and create change by transforming the organization through its people so that it moves in new and challenging directions. Show courage to make difficult decisions, accelerate progress and challenge established ways of working without losing focus on safety, reliability or long-term value creation.
