About the job

Are you ready to take leadership responsibility in a highly specialized environment where quality and safety are crucial? Do you want to play an active role in the implementation of the Defence's new airworthiness concept? Then we need you as a leader at the Structure and Machine Workshop on Lufthavnsvej in Nørresundby.

About us

You will become part of an organization with about 360 engaged colleagues spread across seven specialized workshops, a logistics element and a planning section. Together we develop specialized solutions that support and strengthen the Defence's capabilities across services and emergency responses.

In the Danish Defence Maintenance Service we do not compromise. Aviation safety requires thoroughness, responsibility and professional pride.

The Structure- and Machine Workshop is primarily staffed with civilian employees and consists of a workshop manager, three assistant workshop managers, 31 employees with various professional backgrounds, and three apprentices.

We are a unique workplace where high quality in aircraft maintenance must be delivered, followed by proper technical documentation. A high professional level goes hand in hand with a strong social community, where safety, trust and mutual respect are the foundation. Safety is an integrated part of our daily work.

About the position

You will lead the Structure- and Machine Workshop, which is divided into two teams. The workshop works with the in-depth maintenance of the Defence's equipment for aircraft, helicopters, and much more.

We can offer, among other things

  • Leadership of up to 40 employees
  • A specialized environment with unique aircraft-technical tasks rarely seen elsewhere
  • A strong professional community
  • Salary and employment terms according to qualifications and collective agreement

You will also be responsible for the professional development of the Structure- and Machine Workshop and will be part of the Aalborg Maintenance Area leadership group. You will have a close collaboration with your assistant workshop managers, who are master tradespeople for each of the workshop sections under the Structure- and Machine Workshop.

You will also be responsible for planning and arranging assigned tasks to achieve the predetermined production and quality goals, where Lean will be a natural tool within your area. You will function as a consultant within the workshop's specialty and in connection with this advise and guide where needed.

You will have the opportunity to exercise leadership while also developing professionally and personally. You typically have flexible working hours, your pension arrangement is employer-funded and your lunch break is part of the working day so you can balance your private life as well.

You will have a unique opportunity to use your skills in an industry where your work directly affects the safety of thousands of people in relation to the Defence of Denmark, Europe and NATO borders – a responsibility we all value.

Travel activities will occur, among other things, in connection with representing the workshop and participating in relevant competence development.

About you

You have a relevant professional education within the metalworking trades, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, master of machinery, mechanical engineer, etc. Experience in general maintenance, public administration as well as leadership and coordination of workshop tasks is desirable. We also welcome you to meet some of the following:

  • You have supplemented your professional experience with additional training in leadership or the like.
  • It is an advantage if you have knowledge of SAP or other similar systems.
  • We expect you to have good language skills in Danish and English, both written and spoken, and at a high technical level.
  • You must be quality-conscious, meticulous and systematic in daily work, where you can also work independently and understand how to deliver quality on time.
  • You must be able to handle a busy day where you largely have a coordinating and instructing role in creating coherence between the customer's needs and the work in the workshop.
  • It is also important that you can motivate and create positive frameworks for collaboration.
  • Knowledge of the Defence's airworthiness regime, including DKMAR 145, or alternatively EASA from the civilian sector would be an advantage, but is not a requirement.
