About the job

We are seeking a chief nurse for Ward S7, Aarhus University Hospital Psychiatry, starting 1 January 2027

Do you want to take on a leading role in the development of psychiatric nursing?

Are you motivated to work closely with a group that is both highly experienced and a group of newer staff, and that is multidisciplinary? The common goal is that everyone works to improve patients' treatment and quality of life in the acute phase.

If you can answer yes, you may be our new chief nurse.

About Ward S7

The ward is a specialized unit focused on psychiatric nursing care and treatment of patients within the psychosis spectrum, often with a substance use issue and some with a commitment to treatment.

S7 is a ward with dedicated staff who work closely together to ensure the best care and treatment for our 24 patients. Our staff includes doctors, a clinical psychologist, nurses, social and health care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social educators, social workers, and a medical secretary. We are an education site for students and trainees from several professional groups.

The Leadership Team

As chief nurse you will join the ward's leadership team, which currently consists of 2 chief nurses (where you will be one), a leading clinical psychologist (and a senior physician). Together you will be responsible for leading and further developing the ward so that it continues to deliver high-quality psychiatric care and treatment. Together you must ensure that daily operations fit together, that the right professional competencies are available, and that the work environment, well-being and safety are top of mind.

As chief nurse you will play a central role, where you, together with your leadership colleagues, set the framework and professional direction for the treatment of the psychiatric patient and join AFP's joint leadership group.

We are looking for a chief nurse who

  • Has leadership experience, preferably complemented by leadership education or willingness to obtain it
  • Has broad psychiatric experience
  • Has strong organizational skills and can ensure coherence and progress in the ward's work now and in the long term
  • Is visionary and can set a clear framework and direction for the ward's development together with your leadership colleagues in the ward and in the entire AFP
  • Has the ability to lead, engage and motivate staff with multidisciplinary backgrounds
  • Can collaborate with many different professional groups and sectors
  • Is clear in communication, shows integrity and a recognition-based leadership style
  • Can ensure a safe and healthy working environment with focus on competencies, safety and well-being for staff and patients
  • Has the ability to lead through the region's values - dialogue, competence and boldness
  • Is visibly present, good at following up, and not shy about stepping in if there is a need

We offer

  • Professional and personal challenges in a dynamic ward
  • Thorough introduction to the ward and your tasks
  • A good team of staff who use humor, support and sparring in daily work
  • A wide range of professional groups to collaborate with
  • Continuous supervision, opportunities for professional development and development of your competencies
  • A place in a leadership group where collaboration and common goals are the focus and not only something we talk about
  • An diverse everyday life with both routine tasks and new challenges
